We were so excited, looking forward to get our results on Valentine Day of all days, and we're hoping it would be our best Valentine's Day ever...but unfortunately didn't get the results we had hoped and prayed for. This was our second time going through IVF procedures. The first time, we had 6 eggs and 5 fertilized but by the day of the transfer we only had one embryo left. We went ahead with the transfer and it did not result in a pregnancy. We thought that would be our one shot at trying IVF, but decided from our Doctors input of a different medicine protocol, we may have a chance so we decided to give it one more chance. This time, we had 7 eggs retrieved, and only 2 embryos...But hey, we were optimistic about it because we only needed two for the transfer, but of course leaving no extras. We went through with the transfer, and this time was unsuccessful as well. I have heard how many tries people have done and been unsuccessful, or finally successful so we knew our chances...It could go either way basically. There's no guarantee, and sometimes no answer as to why. I wish I knew why, and I am sad that we may never get to look into our child's face and see our eyes or resemblance. We haven't decided where we are going to go from here. We can of course keep trying on our own, but my thoughts are if it didn't work with help by Fertility professionals, I don't feel confident we could conceive on our own. I'm trying to figure out what is our next plan. Should we look into Adoption? Or live our lives out with each other? Luckily, we have a great relationship and it hasn't come between us. We have dreamed of being parents and tried so hard, I think I would regret not trying further to make it happen one way or another. I do the want to be that person who will go broke doing this though, and after two rounds of IVF, we have all but expenses our resources with a little emergency funds left over. I think it would be a while of saving to adopt, so that's partly the problem too. Any advice or insight would be helpful. Thank you!
This whole experience is full of so many ups and downs, there's really no telling how you will feel after you've given yourself some time to mourn this negative. You may need a little break and decide you want to save up the money and give it one more chance, or you may decide you need to walk away. Don't rush the decision and make sure you and your husband are on board with the same plan. That way, at least you know you're in this together, no matter what the outcome.
It always breaks my heart to thinking about how desperate some of us are and how hard we try for a chance to have a baby, while others get pregnant by accident and need to get abortions :( .
