IVF at Walter Reed Medical Center

Has anyone been accepted into the Walter Reed IVF program for military families? My PCM told me about their program and after we PCS I want to look into their program. If you have been with the program was it difficult to get accepted? What was your overall experience? I'm sure there is a slim chance that someone has done this program but I thought it was worth a shot. Thanks!

I have not done the program at Walter Reed but I am going through the same program at Balboa in San Diego. I believe it is all the same process. When you get there...have your PCM or the OBGYN put in a referral for you to go. We had our initial appt. pretty quickly but after we went through all the preliminary tests...we had to wait a whole year. It may not be as bad there. Tricare paid for all the meds...I had a few that weren't filled on the base but all I had to pay was the $5 copay.

We did have to have pay for the embryologist, the storage of the embryos, and a few other things...1/3 or what you would pay on the outside. So...there is a cost involved...I would budget about $6000 just to be on the safe side.
