IVF and starting meds

Hello! I am fresh out of lap surgery, I had my left tube removed and the right cleared of scar tissue. I am back to work and have my appointment with the IVF nurse tonight to order my meds and get started. I would, have my ER in the first week of December, but the office is going to be closed for routine maintenance and it looks like it will be in the first week of January. I am nervous, but anxious because of the fact that it is my first time going through this process.

I am going back and forth with having the eggs frozen, any thoughts? Also is there anyone that will be having the ER in January??

We share very similar medical histories! I had a lap in July to remove left tube (right had too many adhesions surrounding it, so they just left it alone). I went through round #1 of IVF and got my BFP on Nov. 12. Now, I'm waiting to see if the betas rise appropriately. We did a fresh cycle (only had 2 blasts available to transfer). Why are you thinking about freezing? Just to give your body a chance to calm down after the stims?

My doc is telling me that during my cycle I should consider freezing the embryos, so that if I want to have another baby in the future, I can just get the implant and not go through the whole process again. Because of my age, I am 30, and quality? He said it may be better to freeze them for future attempts. It stinks because I have to make my decision before I even order my meds....

I had my lap done in July 2014 where some endometriosis was cleared out; but no luck in getting pregnant naturally since then, so onto IVF we have moved.

Why do you have to make your decision about freezing eggs before even ordering meds? I think you should have time to consider your options. Personally, I am planning to freeze eggs (not embryos). If I can avoid having to drug myself up all over again for future children, I would prefer to. We are trying for our first child and I find that I am so tired and constantly battling a headache, I can't imagine having a little one or two at home and doing this med regimen. I mean, I would if I had to; but if I had the option of not having to, I think I would prefer that!

AMANDA: I am not sure why i have to make my decision before starting the meds, I have made the decision to freeze, because of those reasons, doing the medication. The nurse explained the process to me last night and my husband and I made the decision.

Are you currently taking the meds? IVF? What are your meds?

Hey Kathleen. I am currently on Lupron. I went in today and was given the green light to start the stim meds tomorrow. Tomorrow, my Lupron dose will be cut in half and I will be starting Bravelle and Menopur. This is my first go around with IVF, so I have no idea what to expect for reactions to the medications. The Lupron has been giving me a headache and some days I have felt more tired than I usually do.

Amanda: I am not really sure what they are ordering for me, medicine wise, the nurse explained that it is based on my age and some other factors, plus with the way my cycle is going, I may have to wait another month to get started!

I am not even really sure when they are ordering my medicine, I know that where I live they told me it takes a while. I am nervous of the side effects, but I am anxious to get started, Do you have any significant side effects?

Hey Kathleen, the headaches continue for me, although I do find if I keep myself very well hydrated they are more tolerable. I started two new injectable meds on Saturday. They burn going in, and the injection sites get a little red, but other than that, I feel like I haven't had anything crazy in terms of side effects. Hopefully it all continues to be tolerable and results in a child(ren) that is so desired.
