IVF and insurance??

Has anyone exceeded their fertility benefits through their insurance??? I had 4 ivf for my lifetime and have already exceeded that so now I have no other options!! Anyone have any advise/help??? Thanks

I wish I had advice! My insurance does not cover IVF. =(

Unfortunately your options are to 1) stop trying (a horrible option, agreed), 2) pay cash for IVF or 3) change insurances. Four IVF trials paid for is actually pretty good for an insurance. My insurance only will pay $6000 lifetime maxiumum. ARC is a group for IVF financing, that does things like shared-risk and medical loans. Although you won't qualify for shared risk if you've had failed IVFs in the past, they do offer finance plans, etc,, which may help.

good luck! I tell myself that I've still spent far less than what I'll have to spend on the kids college tuition some day!

I have to say - thats the best coverage I've ever heard of! I've had to finance 100% of our IVF and fertility treatments. Its very overwhelming to consider at first - but as someone who has had to figure out the financial end by myself - it is possible!

btw - ARC does work pretty well. They have several packages. Ask for Danielle when you call - she's super nice.

No insurance for me, and no ARC either where I live. Thank God my Dad left some money and we are doing a lot of saving for future cycles.

On the plus side, my insurance did cover the meds, I hope that doesn't change.

We just picked our new insurance through DH's employer. We have insurance coverage and it has been $25,000 lifetime. However, next year the maximum has been lifted. He asked his HR about it (because I thought it was a mistake) and she told him because of healthcare reform they had to take maximums off benefits offered as of 1/1/11. We live in MI, and not sure who this effects. But, it's worth investigating a little bit. Good luck!

I'm intrigued by the lifting of lifetime caps --> I knew that was in the healthcare reform, but wasn't sure it would apply to infertility treatment. I'll have to see next year what happens with mine. That $6000 limit is so cheap!
