Hello Everyone,


I am 26 years old and have been trying to conceive for 3 years now. My doctor has recently had to remove both of my Fallopian Tubes because they were both severely damaged. Now my only hope if being able to conceive will be through IVF. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Also about how much did it cost for you to do IVF? He has recommended a bundle package with medicine and IVF for 6 treatments costing a total of $60,000. He said that with that package if in the end I didn't go home with a baby they would refund $22,000 and that will at least be able to adopt. I would appreciate any help

Hi there... I did not have the same fallopian tube issue, but I did have to do IVF treatments. $60,000 seems like an awful lot of money upfront. When he says 6 treatments, does that include 6 egg retrievals? Or 1 or 2 retrievals with frozen embryo transfers? And does that include all of the medicine for everything? Has he checked your egg reserve yet to see if your reserve looks good?(That would have been done with blood work on the 2nd or 3rd day of your period cycle.) For my own treatments, I spent around $30,000 for 1 egg retrieval and 3 frozen embryo transfers- we came away with 8 embryos total after the egg retrieval. We did 1 fresh transfer with 2 embryos that resulted in a chemical pregnancy; 1 frozen transfer of 2 embryos that was negative; 1 frozen transfer of 3 embryos that resulted in another chemical pregnancy; then 1 more frozen transfer with our last 2 embryos that resulted in twins. That money also included my medicines, blood work, and other testing(HSG, endometrial scratch). My Dr. was pretty confident that we would be able to achieve a pregnancy with 1 egg retrieval from a 33 year old woman with a good egg reserve- that is why I asked about yours. Don't get me wrong, some people may need 6 egg retrievals if that is what your Dr.'s IVF package is offering, but it does seem like kind of a lot. Not to mention that it is a very emotional process that is hard on your body- you might get through 1 or 2 egg retrievals and decide it is too much for your body to handle. I hope that I am not scaring you. I just remember how hard it was to process through all of the information that the Dr. gave me and trying to figure out what are the right questions to ask. Honestly, there are no "right" answers when it comes to dealing with fertility treatments. We just have to do the best we can with the information we are given and try to make a decision to move forward. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you might have. Thank you so very much for all of the information. I am not 100% sure about some of the questions so I will definitely be asking him some of these questions at my 3 week post op. As soon as I figure out the answers. I will let you know. Congratulations on your twins that is amazing
