How big are your four follies? You will probably have one or two more pop up, and your RE may be able to string your cycle along enough to get them on the lower end of the scale to where they can be retrieved. I have POFS, so on both of my retrievals, I didn't produce much more than 10 total. My RE would string me along as far as he could to get as many of them above 15 mm as possible. I think we retrieved 6 or 7 each time, 5 of which were viable, and 4 of which survived fertilization and freezing.

My RE has preached from the beginning that there is no "set" number of follicles they're looking for, even from cycle to cycle. He believes that each woman is different and responds to each cycle differently. Yes, he based his expectations of one cycle on another, but if I wasn't too far off, he wasn't too concerned.

My first scan always seemed disappointing during IVF because I never had nearly as many follies as I thought I should. But there were always at least twice as many by ER. Good luck and I hope the scan today shows many more!
