I am scheduled to see my RE tomorrow. My DH and I have been trying on our own since my lap last Sept (per my docs instructions), which resulted in a pregnancy in Jan; however we lost the baby early. I wanted to wait to see if we could get prgnant again on our own but it's been 7 months now. So, I have a feeling our next step will be IUI since IVF is out of the question right now for financial reasons (we have no infertility ins.) I see many women getting pregnant from IVF but not many positives on IUI....is it worth it?

Any imput would be great going in to my consult tomorrow:)

I just found out I'm pregnant from an IUI - so they do work!

Just tell your RE all your concerns/ideas and he/she will help you make a plan that's right for you. :-)

in our case it was very worth it. i was able to get pregnant with IUI 3 times. i am currently 6 months pregnant. i think it depends on your IF issue. my first pregnancy DH had the IF issues and we got our son.

the 2nd and current pregnancy DH and i both have/had issues. DH still had sperm issues and then i had elevated FSH (running out of eggs).

I had no If besides being over weight. I have a 12 yr old son from a pervious marriage. DH and I tryed for over a year to get pregnant and found out DH had a zero sperm count. So we turned to IUI with a donor. On our first try June 13th..yeah friday the 13th we got pregnant. So yes I feel IUI works plus it's cheaper. I wish you the best of luck!!

I am having my first IUI tomorrow 8/30. Hopefully you have success with IUI. I am reading several comments about success with IUI. I wish you the best of luck:)

If money is a problem for you (which it is for us too...also no insurance coverage for IF), it's worth asking your RE if they have any way of donating the medications you'll need. I was sooo lucky that the clinic I go to was able to give me the Follistim for free. So, all we ended up having to pay for was the Lupron (which is WAY less expensive) and the procedure itself ($300, as opposed to thousands for IVF). This has allowed us to try 4 cycles with IUI back to back, whereas we were thinking we'd only be able to do one...then save up and try another...then save for another and so on. It hasn't worked for us, but if it had, it would have been so totally worth the money a zillion times over. And now at least I know we tried. I'd say if you can afford it...even just one cycle...give it a go.

Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback. I'm excited to say that my DH and I have decided to do IUI after talking w/ our RE today. I start Clomid tomorrow and then in less than 2 weeks (if I ovulate) we will do the insemination:) I am so excited about it and hope to get a BFP. I appreciate all the imput...take care.

IUI are most successful when you have a decent sperm count. It all depends on what your issues are!
