I'm in the same boat - I just gave up on Clomid w/ IUI since it wasn't successful after 5 months. This cycle just started and I'll be on an FSH protocol of Bravelle. From what I've read the side effects are minimal compared to the Clomid and the success rates are much higher! Good luck!

I just finished my first cycle with repronex. After clomid, injectables were nothing as far as side effects. You or DH has to inject you, for me it was in my tummy starting day 3 and go on for about 10 days, depending on how your body reacts to them. You will have mor u/s done. I am on day 5 of 2ww and I am hoping that this is the month. Good luck to you. I know the sucess rate is higher than with clomid.

Hi there, honestly its not that bad at all. I took Lupron and Gonal F injections. My dh did it for me. Both were in the tummy, it helps to pinch the area a bit. The needles are really thin and you hardly feel a thing. Don't worry too much, you'll be a pro in no time! Good luck.

they were pretty painless... just stung a little.

I had Suprecur and Puregon on the first cycle and then Suprecur and Menopur on the second. The worst thing is the self injector which jolts and gives you bruises although you can do it without. The Puregon was a pen injector which didn't jolt and was much better. It's really not bad, I would agree with the other post pinch the area and if in the leg do alternate legs. i am on 3 injections-progesterone, estrogen and lovenox- plus about 7 pills a day. it is not bad! the worse part, for me, was taking them and expecting crazy side effects but they are minimal. its a scarry thing but you will be fine, i promise!

i've lost very little sleep but i do occasionally have hot flashes. my RE told me to take benadryl if i have trouble sleeping and i've had to maybe 3 or 4 times. i've been on the IVF rollercoaster since october. my mood swings have actually gotten better since i've been on the meds. i like to think i was bitchy b4 b/c i had an estrogen deficiency- go figure! i think everyone is different but for me its not been bad at all.

everyone talks about using ther bellies but I always used my thigh.....I alterante sides too. The first time I stuck myself was really weird. I had to get myself angry to do it (not difficult condidering the stress of infertility!!). My side effects before the trigger shot were some light ovarian cramps and maybe a little warm in the evening but not hot flashes. Good luck! It really isn't as big of a deal as we make it out to be in the beginning!

The Menopus stings while it is going in, but it goes away pretty quickly. Gonal F is no biggie at all. Also, my stomach is feeling very spongy and full. My DH has been giving me all my shots, but this morning we forgot my Lupron, so I gave it to myself a while ago and the needle went in so easy it popped right back out, so I had to stick myself again. So easy... I am VERY moody today (day 5 of stimming) and have a head ache since last week, but it may be withdraw from wine!

i have done clomid and IUI and we were lucky enough to get our son 2 1/2 years ago.

this time around, things were more complicated so we had to move to injectables. the only side affect that i had (and i have done gonal-f and follistim) is bloating and sinus congestion (an increase of estrogen can do that).

doing teh shots is a piece of cake once you have teh hang of it.

we have done injectables and IUI since last october and i have gotten pregnant twice on them.

One ended in miscarriage at xmas and I am currently five weeks pregnant.

I didn't experience any side effects and after IUI with Clomid, I did ganil-rx and follistim with ovidrel..

just a pinch with the needle..

do you know what kind of injectibles? b/c follistim the Dr's should monitor your follicle development so you don't hyperstimulate..so you should really feel no side effects. good luck!

I think Gonal F is what I will be taking. I think I will start on day 3 and then be monitored on day 7 & 9 etc....

Hi! You can use both stomach and thighs. Alternate sides. You will feel some ovarian cramping. Nothing serious. You will feel full as you progress. That's just your follicles growing. If you use your stomach make sure to pinch the area you are going to inject. Cuts down on discomfort and possible bruising. Best wishes,girl!

I've been using Menopur, Bravelle and Ganirellex. They don't hurt and you get used to them after awhile. It's the progesterone in oil shots that get me! Remember to use hot/cold with the progesterone:0 Good luck!
