So, this is new for me. I have never been party of an online support group but lets give this a try. Hopefully it helps someone in the long run. So as of August 2015 I found out I've had Chlamydia for over a year and my doctors knew about it but forgot to mention it to me or even give me proper medication. I had no symptoms nor did my boyfriend. I was in a previous marriage that my husband was extremely unfaithful and I believe I contracted it from him. my GYN caught it once she tried doing a pap on me and my cervix was uncontrollable bleeding. (sorry for being a little graphic). she did the tests and let me know it was an STD and I was as pale as a ghost and I am a very tan woman. Well after days of research I found out that having chlamydia for some time untreated can cause infertility which for me it did. I have blocked tubes, and I was depressed for weeks. They are still doing an investigation on the clinic (i am active duty military) on to what happen and how they can fix the issue. We will be going through either surgery or IVF not entirely sure yet but just wanted to get some input on others experiences with IVF. I've already had HSG done and as painful as it was it did not unblock as some have mentioned to me before. Any advice, or just a simple you are not alone would be greatly appreciated. :) have a blessed day.

I just wanted to encourage you to not give up hope. I have PCOS and after 8 years of infertility we now have a son. I tell you this not to hurt, but to give you hope. I know our diagnosis are different, but there is hope at every level. Don't give up, think positive and I wish you all the best! This site is the best support...take care!
These boards aren't as active as they use to be, so don't take a lack of responses to mean anything other than that. If you use the search feature at the top of the discussion boards you'll be able to look through old discussion posts about IVF. It's a wealth of information.
In most cases, STDs/STIs are linked to infertility primarily when they are left untreated.
For instance, chlamydia and gonorrhea are sexually transmitted bacterial infections. They can be cured easily with antibiotics. Left untreated, 20% of chlamydial and gonorrheal infections in women can result in pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). Its a condition that can cause long-term complications, such as chronic pelvic pain, ectopic pregnancy and infertility.
Additionally, infections with gonorrhea and chlamydia may not cause symptoms and may go unnoticed. These undiagnosed and untreated infections can lead to severe health consequences. Especially in women, causing permanent damage to reproductive organs.
