Hello everyone,

I joined this group because my support system is far away. My husband and I got married in 2012 and we decided to hold off trying to have kids for the first couple years of marriage. So around the beginning of 2014 we started trying to have kids. Nothing worked. After the required two years of unsuccessful attempts we contacted the infertility clinic in our area. After a few health issues we were scheduled for ivf starting in December 2017. I had 21 eggs retrieved, 11 of which fertilized. Only three developed to be used for a fet. My fet (for two embryos) was scheduled for 2/2/2018 due to clinic availability. I had my first scheduled blood test today. Received a call about an hour ago that the test was negative. I’m so confused because throughout this whole ordeal I was told several times that the doctors weren’t concerned with my ability to conceive and that I would be able to hold a pregnancy without issue. So now I’m extremely disappointed and feel like I’ve been lied to. Anyone have any advice on how to move forward. I feel so isolated because my family is thousands of miles away.

So sorry that you are going thru all of this, and that your support system is not local. Hopefully you will find some strength and support here, from those who understand.

I'm not 100% i understand the particulars, but you had a frozen transfer on 2/2 and today you went for your first beta and it was negative? If i'm understanding that correctly, a) i'm sorry about that and b) did they tell you any additional information? Granted, nothing is ever guaranteed, but if the Dr's gave you false hope that basically this was a shoe in to work, that was totally wrong on their part. Did you transfer both or 1? What do you and DH feel like doing next? Do you want to go thru a cycle again? 'It's certainly not an easy decision. Maybe take some time and figure out where you want to go from here. Maybe a different clinic? Maybe additional tests?
Whatever you guys decide, know that you aren't alone.

We didn’t get a wealth of information from my doctor. Basically I was lead to believe that our infertility issues were the result of my husbands issues. I’m 28 with no history of infertility or miscarriages. My hormones were right where they should be, and everything leading up to the transfer looked “perfect” per my doctor. We transferred two out of my three embryos. My DH and I have decided to transfer the next embryo when it is possible. Basically I was told I happened to fall in the 30% of women that for no reason implantation doesn’t occur. As far as choosing another clinic it’s not really possible. My husband is military so we are very limited in our choices of clinics. Also the clinic we used is highly recommended in our area.

I completely understand what you are going through. It is so frustrating when a transfer fails and there really is no rhyme or reason why. I’m sorry that your dr wasn’t more upfront with the reality of outcomes. I am very grateful that my dr was very straight forward about my chances for success. I had 8 five-day blastocysts that were all highly graded and for whatever reason, 6 of them did not implant. After each negative, I let myself grieve and then prepared for the next step. Be kind to yourself bc this is a lot to go through and don’t be afraid to let your emotions out and to question your dr. Sending you peace tonight... Nikki

Hi, hun, I'm sorry. My first ivf failure ended with early miscarrage. Though I wasn't ready for this outcome. We changed the clinic. During the course of treatment we're engaged with many different specialists. At times, it may feel unsettling to feel passed from one pair of hands to the next. And we may wish for greater personal attention. That's true unless you still feel confident with the place you are with. Any result needs editional studies. I strongly believe they'll do improvements for your next step. Stay strong, sending you much love and support x
