Hi all,
I am preparing a lecture which I am to give to about 800 undergrad students at my university on infertility. I'm finding this incredibly hard to do as it is stirring up so many emotions. Having to go through the figures and being reminded of just how small my chances of getting pregnant actually are (around 1% without IVF) is tearing me up inside. Then having to look at the way society treats women who suffer from IF makes me want to cry!
I want to give the students a real look at what infertility is, not just in terms of the medical procedures we have to undergo, but the human side of things! my hope is that if any are faced with IF they will understand it a little better and for those who are lucky to never go on this journey that they think back to this lecture before hurting the feelings of someone with IF.
This is such an important lecture and I know that someone who suffers from IF should be delivering it, however every time I think of having to put myself in such a vulnerable spot really scares me....
I really need some courage right now!
Thanks for listening!

I wish you the best of luck, I am sure you will do great because it will come from the heart!

It is hard to do a lecture but worse to hear a lecture from a person's point of view versus personal experience. It will come more from your heart and I believe once you start lecturing you actually might find yourself a little relieved as you can use this as stress relief too. You can say things and vent so to say, without them realizing why your venting. I think you're doing a wonderful lecture to help spread the word. :) Good luck!

I too wish I could listen in on this lecture. Please don't be scared. You are spreading the awareness and representing all of us who are hurting and have no such outlet. You my friend are making a difference!

You will be surprised at how presenting this lecture will help you do some healing and how you will help heal, educate and inform others. IF needs voices to speak out. It is uncomfortable, it is emotional, it is personal, but our community needs women like you to stand up and speak out. You can do this and you will do great!

Good luck, and thank you for spreading awareness!

I think it's incredibly brave of you to do this. I wish I had that kind of bravery, but I just feel so ashamed to even discuss it anymore, it's like I haven't really come to terms that I have IF, I think I'm still in denial. You are doing such an awesome thing because many people don't realize how they can hurt us. I say go for it!! Let us know how it goes!

I commend you for being so incredibly strong and brave to speak out!!! It takes guts to be open and share such a personal story. Thank you for taking a stand and speaking for all of us that struggle with IF. ((HUGS))
