Ugh! I KNOW!! I gathered enough strength a couple weeks ago to attend a friend's gender revealing party for her baby. There were several people there who were pregnant too and a lady turned to me and said "Don't drink the water!" It was about all I could do to not completely fall apart. People can be so insensitive without even realizing it. :(

My principal said the don't drink the water statement. I was so uncomfortable because everyone knows I loss my baby! Yet every dang year someone is pregnant!

I'm so sorry your coworker can be so insensitive. People just don't understand how painful IF is because if you haven't gone through it, you have no idea! People who don't experience IF think that getting pregnant is a choice, when in reality, it's not so simple ;(

I can empathize with how you're feeling though. I recently worked a few shifts with a coworker and throughout those shifts she asked if I had kids, I explained that we were having a tough time trying. The VERY next day I worked with this bimbo again and she asked me AGAIN! UGH! Feeling like I should wear a sign saying "Infertile, don't ask. Advice not needed!"

YES! My partner at work is fostering kids because she's not married, but her sisters and brothers dealt with IF so she is constantly asking me questions about it and acting like she understands so much! Which she DOESN'T because if she DID she would know NOT to butt into my life and ask so many unnecessary questions because it hurts to talk about! She's so nosey and I don't know how to tell her it's none of her business!! Especially when I'm at work and trying to keep myself from falling apart in a professional setting.

thats exactley how i feel on any given day!!!! But i justdont feel like i should have to explain myself to anybody. if you see a comment makes somebody uncomfortable why would you repeat it?!?!?!?

I have decided that some people are just mean! I have a coworker whom is pregnant with her second. For some reason, she loves to talk about her pregnancy issues as soon as I walk into the office. She is well aware that I have been unable to get pregnant but that doesnt seem to matter to her. I dread coming to work now because I have to deal with her!!! Its to the point that I cant even look at her!! If she talks to me I usually ignore her or I just act like I didnt hear her and I walk away. Maybe I'm being rude too but hopefully she gets the point before I really lose it around her!!!

I truly honestly believe some people are that ignorant and they simply don't get how incredibly difficult it is to be around and hear about pregnancy. When it happens to me, it feels like someone took a knife and ripped my heart in two, that painful! I believe it is absolutely necessary to ask those people to stop talking about it around you, or when someone says, "You're next!" Or something equally as mundane to retort with something like (enter clever statement here). Don't worry about hurting their feelings, look at what it did to you! Also it would save others the pain.

I hear that and "it must be in the water, you're next," all the time at work! I work in a relatively small office and for the past 4 years, there has been at least one person pregnant almost constantly. I really do hope that I am next, but I also know that for me, it isn't as simple as drinking the water. Because my office is so small and mostly full of women who live to gossip, most people are at least aware of my TTC struggles, so fortunately, most people are relatively sensitive to what they say to me, but there are a few people (mostly the ones who don't have kids and don't want kids) who say really stupid things. They just don't get it, so I try to ignore them as much as possible.

my old supervisor says all the time "if you wanna have a baby join my team! my girls are always getting preggo!" and im like DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WAS ON YOUR TEAM FOR A WHOLE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!! SMH Im just learning to allow myself to feel how i feel and say what i need to say if i decide its worth a reply. Like mommawannabe said, they weren't concerned with what their comment would do to you.
