I myself am 32 low AMH and Hypothyroidism. We had been trying for 2 years now and finally got our BFP through IVF. Seeing a specialist is important go through ALL the test and explore all your options.
Best of luck!
It is nice to know there is a place like this to speak with others who have gone through or are going through similar situations.
I agree it is so hard to see all of your friends getting pregnant and saying "don't worry it will happen." It is hard to hear these things and be happy.
I am in the same boat as you, as I do have a lot of questions RIGHT NOW, but do want to talk about it with others...
Thinking of you!!!
have you thought about your next step? what does your RE suggest? my only advise is the educate yourself on the process.
"don't worry it will happen" is what people say when they are ignorant. they don't mean to be, they mean well - but it's awful and insensitive. You know what i do? I say "it isn't as easy for everyone" when people ask me when we are having babies. and that usually shuts them up. There have been times when people have given my advise like that, and i tell them "would you tell someone with cancer to just relax? b'c what i am dealing with is just as much a medical condition"
I just stopped trying to be political and nice, and started being real with people - if they want to say something to me that they shouldn't, then I will say it right back. Sorry, but IF does that to you.
You have TONS of support here - and we will help you through this.
I am currently on synthroid as my thyroid was normal, but not where it should be if TTC. I've had an HSG which came back normal. Ultrasound showed one ovary had a good number of follicles but the other ovary only had 1 (if that) which I anticipate is the reason for my low AMH?
Not yet sure what the next steps are and/or if there are additional tests that we can take before getting aggressive and jumping into IVF? I've heard that with low AMH your percentage drops substantially so glad to hear others have still had success going that route.
As for your next step they will probably suggest doing iui's since they are usually covered or partly covered where IVF's are generally never covered. Check out your insurance for all that information.
A general rule of thumb is 3 iui's before moving to IVF however all clinics are different. I was pushy and only did 2 iui's then right to IVF. I didn't want to wait anymore, I needed better answers that IVF provided me with. If you have any questions I am here for you!
Everyone is different and the biggest this I learned is patience is a MUST. IF has no sense of time or emotion and is a long lonely road. I hope your appointment goes well and you come up with a plan of action!
All my non-married, non-trying friends and coworkers were getting pregnant on accident. While here I am married with a good life wanting and able to afford a child but yet nothing. It was ALMOST to much to take. It seemed like daily I was getting asked "Well when are you having kids?" "Don't you want kids?" or hearing, "Don't worry your next." It has ALMOST been to much to take at every step of the way, through years of trying, medical procedures, and finally a diagnoses, others baby showers and friends pregnancies that I should be happier about.
I have cried many nights and been so angry I could scream. However I always find the strength (after a few days) to move on and do the next step that needs to be taken. You will also find that strength.
This group really helps make the journey less painful and less lonely. It offers a realization that even though I feel totally alone, I am not. There are others that are feeling and UNDERSTAND the same pain.
What was your experience with iui's? I anticipate that may be the next steps suggested to try for a couple months however need to see what fertility expert suggests with low AMH... they may want to go straight to IVF. Not sure yet.
Trying to stay positive and keep busy but of course in the back of my mind I keep wondering... could I be pregnant this month? Although I'm getting pretty used to the BFN there is always that small ounce of hope.
