My HSG experience was horrible. I could not bare the pain. Maybe because my tubes are both blocked and I had no "spillage" which was a red flag. My heart hurts, I keep saying why is this all happening to me. The pain was tolerable at first then when the dye went in it was like the worst period cramps of your life until they removed everything then I could relax again. I think I tolerate pain well, so I am thinking maybe just because they were blocked that's why it was so painful? I don't know but I would never do that again. Everyone was super nice don't get me wrong but who ever says it wasn't painful ha! I am sitting here currently with a heating pad on because 4 hours later I'm still cramping. The worst pain lasted about 30 mins but I couldn't tolerate it. I am sorry if I am scaring any of you but this is the honest truth. Now I have a follow up with my doctor in two weeks but the look she had on her face told me it wasn't good. I was supposed to start clomid for the first time after all this but that is doubtful. And I also feel so bad for my husband. Through all this he is my rock. Holding me when I'm crying and talking me through it all. I think sometimes we forget about our partners feelings in all this. I just wish we could have a baby that's the one thing we are missing. I am putting faith in God to guide us, maybe I am not supposed to conceive maybe adoption is my answer. Hugs to you all going through any of these things!

I had almost the same experience with my HSG! It was the most painful thing I've had done in my life. I was practically squirming off the table. Fortunately the pain stopped quickly after everything was removed and done with. I was told only one of the tubes was blocked, but the doc said it could have just been a spasm and he has no way of knowing. We are going to try our first IUI this week.
I truly hope your follow up appointment went well. Hang in there and don't give up until you know you're out of options. Adoption isn't my first choice, but it is a wonderful thing! **Baby dust!**

Thank you! My first specialist appointment for IVF is today! And yes if they want to do that again heck to the no!! My gyn told me they normally redo the test if you have spasms which I did. But she indicated that because of the way it looks they are definitely blocked..told my hubby there is no way I'm doing that test again I'm sorry. At least the labor pains would be worth it (I literally felt like this must be what labor is like!!) baby dust to you as well!! Feel free to message me anytime to talk!!

I also had a horrible HSG experience and was called a few days later with the results, both tubes blocked. I was devastated. We were told IVF was the only option in order to by-pass the tubes, so we did 3 rounds and were successful with twins in 2010. THEN...4 years later we conceived our son completely naturally! I can't explain it, but just don't give up hope!! Pray, believe, think positive.

Results same as before except left tube is somewhat open but not spilling correctly. Dr noted that if I was to conceive naturally it would be a tubal pregnancy. So IVF is it. Have another appointment for more consultation info next Monday

Good luck with IVF! I had an IUI Sunday. It was painful too. Apparently my cervix is tight and difficult to pass through it, making it hurt.
Was your second HSG painful, too?

Wasn't as painful as the first but definitely still bad. She did give me Valium to help but also this one was done 2weeks or so after my period. Last one was a few days after so who knows why it was so bad. Maybe forced one tube open last time so this time was some what better.

Just wanted to put it out there that I had read tons of posts like these before going for my hsg and was terrified. I was in tears. And then I felt nothing. So I guess everyone is different but just wanted to share my experience so that somebody else with anxiety like mine might read it and feel reassured. Sorry to hear everyone else's were so horrible. Thinking of you all.

Yes not trying to scare anyone, it may just be because my tubes were blocked..had a second one done and it wasn't much better but doctor did give me something for the anxiety

I had an awful experience as well. Luckily my nurses were so friendly and supportive. She help my hand and just kept telling me to breath.. had to wear large uncomfortable maxi pads for a couple of days after because of the bleeding and the dye because of gravity and all.. lol I have a seltated uterus. Not completely. The dr was actually disappointed that mine was a complete septum because he quote "had never seen one before" thanks for treating me like a freak show..

Geeze I'm so sorry and yes those doctors sometimes you feel like saying "you know I'm right here right?" At my first HSG the radiologist actually said my test didn't look good out loud in front of me...thanks buddy that's what my doc is for
