Hsg showed blocked tubes

hi everyone, I just joined and am just looking for people I can relate with. We’ve been ttc for 1.5 Years and had to delay infertility testing due to traveling to Zika area. Today I had my hsg done and it showed both my tubes are blocked. The doctor didn’t have any answers for me today. He said don’t worry but I obviously am worried. He mentioned surgery or other options. He said we had to wait to finish all my hormone testing and test my husband. That all will take another month and they made it seem that in the end there might be more wrong so we could just be told we can’t have children. I read about the larascopic surgeries to unblock the tubes and IVF treatment. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this kind of experience and what their results have been?

I am so sorry that you are experiencing this. I have been TTC for about 4 years and just got a diagnosis of hydrospalinx in both tubes (it's a form of blocked tubes with fluid). I have been told I need surgery and then IVF as my options. I am taking some time to digest and decide on next steps. It sounds like we have similar situations. Today was the first day I got through without crying non- stop since being diagnosed. It's all very overwhelming and scary. I found it very shocking as I never thought blocked tubes were my issue. I also had to wait about a month to get the diagnosis too, but I also knew something was very wrong in early testing. I find if I keep myself busy with things I enjoy, I do better Please keep me posted but don't lose hope yet. Lots of women can still get pregnant with blocked tubes so we are not alone. :)

I since found out that i have good egg quality and quantity. After 2 weeks of thinking about what to do, with the surgery and IVF both being options, we are going to see the doctor again tomorrow to go over all of our questions.
Insurance doesn't cover either option so we really have to decide what the best option is. I guess they dont know if the surgery is going to be successful until they start.

So sorry. Get a second opinion. And not from a surgeon. Remember, they get paid to cut you open. What I am getting at is, can you go forward with IVF (implant embryos direct to the uterus) and leave the tubes as is? If you're young and have good reserve, you have time on your hands. If you're older and running out of time, then I say try to jump to IVF as soon as possible, or minimum, collect as many eggs and freeze as you can before doing a surgery that requires months and months of recovery. Each month/year is detrimental. And get that second opinion. Good luck!
