I am struggling with the same thing! I just had my thrid iui, but it is the first time I took medication...clomid. I had multiple follicles and my husbands sample was great. I want to feel positive, but there have been other cycles where I felt everything fell into place and was devastated when it was a BFN.

I understand how you feel. I'm 4 days past transfer and want to be positive as well, but know that if I get too caught up in the idea that it will work, it will be that much harder to get over it if I get a negative result back. This is kind of what happened last time. I did IVF in November of last year, and although I wasn't 'up' emotionally, I felt strongly that I had a good chance and was devastated when I got a BFN. Then again, I think being positive never hurts and can help you get through the next week....I wish I had answers but I don't !!

A close friend of mine who did IVF, got pregnant and then lost the baby (such a sad story) is trying again with her second IVF. I just did a cycle myself and was telling her I was struggling with the same thing--do you try to create your reality by being positive and helping it happen? Or do you just assume it won't work and then you're happily surprised if it does? She said what she wishes for herself and for everyone else going through this is to be at peace with whatever happens. I thought about that so often while I was in the 2ww. I have already done 3 IUIs too. I try to visualize the embryos and believe that it can happen but at the same time TRY not to focus on it any more than I have to. I know that's practically impossible during the 2ww, but distracting yourself with movies, seeing friends, etc., helps remind you that you have a life outside of whether or not you are pregnant and helped me deal with the situation a lot better when I found out I had a chemical pregnancy with my first IVF. I also have gotten to the point where I think of getting pregnant as a journey that has a beginning and an end, even if I don't know what it is yet. I truly believe I will get pregnant whether or not it happens this month. It helps me to think of the bigger picture--I feel sure I will be pregnant by next spring even if I'm not RIGHT NOW, so whatever happens it's okay, because this is just one chance of many. This is something I struggle with everytime. How do I stay optimistic but not be totally crushed if it is a BFN? Since I have never in 4 1/2 years seen a BFP, I think I am just getting used to the BFN's. The things that get me through the 2WW is smiling. I know that sounds weird but smiling makes me feel better but at the same time I still am preparing myself in the back of my mind for the possiblity. GL and I hope you get the BFP.

I think just about everyone struggles with this. I often feel like I am walking a tight rope. If I don't work hard to stay carefully balanced there is a huge fall. I always try to visualize the positive outcome and plan for a negative result. Those last few days are definitely the worst, when the hormones in your body get all crazy and fool you into thinking AF symptoms just might be a BFP. I am hoping and praying that this is your last 2ww and you will not need to face any devastation!

I really don't know if that is possible...even if you say you are not going to get your hopes up, it doesn't mean inside you are not hopeful. For me, I think the key is to validate all the feelings I am having (positive and negative). Anytime I try to ignore a feeling I am having, that's when I go into a tailspin when I get a BFN.

It's a struggle...I always tried to stay positive about the long term, and hopeful about the current cycle. It made it a little easier to focus on the long term, because then I didn't feel as though each BFN cycle was the end. It's hard to balance though.

I struggle with this also. We had our 10 yr anniversary this month(also 10 yrs ttc), we are currently in the 2ww. I want so hard to be positive & hopeful, but there is a 10 yr track record of failure. That's hard to ignore. Good luck, I hope you get your BFP.

I know what you're going through and feel your pain. People always say that you have to think positive thoughts and not to be pessimistic, but when you have so many disappointments in the row it's hard to stay positive. Still I'm a big believer of keeping positive and think that things will work out.

I understand your feeling very well. When I did my IUI the first time, I was told everything was perfect, follicle size, lining etc. I was so positive that during the 2ww we were already joking about if it's a boy or girl. Surprisingly I failed, I can not believe it until I got to my next period.
I did my 2nd IUI yesterday. The test result is actually not as good as the first time. So now I am having completely different attitude, because it seems that the more you hope,the more dissapointed you will be. We just try not to think and talk about it. It seems time goes faster this way. However, I still can't help but doing lots of research on internet on what kind of food can improve the pregnancy rate etc.. I have been trying some out to kill time and make myself feel good :)

I say stay positive! Expect the best and you just may get it! I was extremely devastated after 2 BFNs myself. Unfortunately, a BFN leads to devastation no matter what your attitude was going into it. You owe it to yourself and the little bean(s) inside you to stay happy! It will do you no good not to expect God's greatest gift...it will only make you miserable for the rest of the week while you wait. I know it's significantly difficult to do, but keep expecting the best!!!

I haven't even started my first IVF cycle and I am having problems containing the hope :) I know it is crazy to be so excited and hopeful before even trying but I can't help it.

I am, by nature an extreme pessimist. But to have this spark of hope that we can afford to do IVF. We have been TTC for seven to eight years. Sept. 1 was our 8 year anniversary.

We are all good people who deserve good things. I wish everyone the best in their TTC adventures.

It's SO hard, this is the absolute worst part of the 2ww. I try to be "cautiously optimistic." I think that feeling negative and hopeless can have an affect on our bodies and so I feel we should do all we can to stay optimistic, but I guess in the back of your mind being ready for that BFN. My beta is on Sunday so I'm right there with you. Good luck!

My beta is tomorrow so I'm with all of you and am kinda freaking out that tomorrow is here already. We have to hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I'm hoping to get away for our anniversary in October. If this test comes back negative I will at least have something there to look forward to.
I'm trying to just keep myself busy today and realize that there is NOTHING i can do about my results. they are what they are!
