I had success with my first IUI in November of 2001. I had to have progestrone to help sustain the pregnancy, but, I now have a very healthy 4 1/2 year old son. It is great to have high hopes, but be prepared that things may not go as planned. I have not had as great of a success story since trying for our second child. Hang in there! Keep praying! I did my first IUI about 5 weeks ago and it didn't work. I really hope your experience is successful. According to my RE, the success rate for 3 IUI's is 42%.
So if it doesn't work the first time, it may work the time after that, or the time after that. I really wish you the best of luck. keep us posted.

The more you play the slots, the more likely you are to hit the jackpot. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't take the first time.

I'm on IUI #5, no luck yet. Well, I'm in the 2ww right now on number 5. And, all of my IUI were dbl (2 days in a row to be sure we hit O)...they were all monitored with us/bw...still no luck. I'm with Courtney, if the first couple don't work, move on! Good Luck! I've heard a lot of people say the got pg on the first time!

You have to jump through the hoops and we hope this is your lucky hoop! We did 4 IUIs and now will be doing 6th IVF in May. I hope your journey to conceive is very short!

And remember...the people who had success with their first IUI are not chatting on this discussion board anymore! They have all moved on to pregnancy or parenting. Keep that in mind. Maybe it will be the same for you, too. Hope so!

I had my first last month and wasn't successful. Our RE said to try 2 or 3 and that most people -- if they are going to conceive that way -- wll do so within the first 3 tries. Who knows where that comes from... Very disappointing to get a BFN because it seems like such a big step. The RE said the IUI still only brings the probability up to about 35% chance so not amazing odds but the jackpot analogy is the right one to take. Good luck to you!

My first IUI did not work. However, for a friend of mine it did work on the first try and her son is now 2 months old. I also heard your odds increase alot by the third IUI. Good Luck, I hope it works for you on the first try!

I have not tried IUI but my OBGYN told me you have a 10%-15% success rate with each try. She stated that if you try consecutively for 6 months with no success, then to move on to something else. Good luck!
