Every month I tell myself that I will not test until I am late. And every month I break that promise to myself. This month will be our firts IUI and I reall really want to wait. Any sugestions on how to wait. What do you guys do? I have treid everthing I can think of. I even promised God I wouldnt and messed up. Please help

The first step is not buying them. If you have some on hand - have your husband hide them for you!

I just think of how gross and messy it is!

I also get caught up in "putting off the bad news" If I don't test, I might be pregnant. If I do, I will be disappointed.

All in all, I am planning to take one the evening before I go in for my beta. My husband and I talked about it and I would rather take one at that last possible time so that if there is a faint line, we will be there together to celebrate!

I think I've only used one HPT once in the past 3 years. I don't see the point. I know loads of people who have gotten false BFNs or BFPs when taking it early. I know my clinic warned me not to take them after IVF because the drugs I'm on will most likely give me a BFP even if I'm not pg. If you know when you've ovulated and you don't get AF for a full 18 days afterward than you KNOW you are pg. Do you chart your temps? I hate charting but if I were really antsie I'd chart the last 4 days to see if the temps are rising or falling. then you'd know.

If you figure this out....WRITE A BOOK! I promise myself each month, pinky swear wtih my DH and even spit shake.

I still do it.

I always said that as well. And I never made it I would just go to the dollar store and get some tests, knowing that they aren't the most trust worthy anyways, I just had to pee on something, or I would go nut's. Good Luck!!

I agree about not keeping them in the house. This is just a temptation. When you are at the store, think of other things you can buy with the money you would spend on HPT's. Buy yourself something fun or get a mani/pedi with the money instead of using it on HPT's.

I totally relate! I actually thought I was the only one in the world 'addicted' to peeing on a stick.
The way I see it, if you can afford the tests, buy the better ones and do it. The anticipation of not knowing and waiting seems more painful then being in the office and hearing from the dr again, it's negative. At least if it is not what you desired, you are at home, with your DH and you can be honest about your feelings and possibly any resentments or anger.
Don't make any promises to God that you do not intend to keep...He already knows you, so don't worry.

Thank you all so much. Its nice to know that there are others that have my same addiction. I pee on a stick in the morning and get a BFN and think well i peed right before bed so there may not have been enough. Then I pee on it at night and get a BFN and think-- well they say pee on it in the morning. Then I keep peeing on them all the time getting BFN and i think well you hear the stories of people getting BFN when they really are pregant. I keep on peeing on sticks all the way up until AF. I need to stop. Maybe we can make a suport group for that and talk each other down.
