My dr. threw the idea of PCOS to me just by me tellin her my symptoms....but she ran sum blood work...to check for other causes of my symptoms and did an ultrasound of my ovaries...She even pointed out to me all the cysts on my ovaries. After these to tests is when she confirmed to me i had pcos. And the thing about pcos is that not everyone is the same...some people have all the symptoms and so me people only get a few....so maybe you should ask them if this could be a problem...i mean if you feel like its something they are missing...then you should bring it to their attention and say its a concern you have.

Are you seeing a reproductive endocrinologist? My regular OBGYN did not say I had PCOS because I had no symptoms. It was not until after I had my original consultation with my RE that he ran quite a few tests/blood work etc. to tell me that I did have PCOS. If you are still just seeing your regular OBGYN this may be why. I have found that the regular doctors just aren't as well versed in the infertility process as REs are.

I was diagnosed with severe PCOS. My physician said there was no direct test but rather a process of elimination. For instance, difficulty losing weight, abnormal hair growth, abnormal periods, weight gain. It's not A B or C so it must be PCOS. Oh and history of cysts on ovaries.

Your RE should be able to see it on an ultrasound! Your ovaries should look polycystic! Like a ring of black pearls around them! I had a lot of the signs but when they did an ultrasound he said I deff have PCOS because of my ovaries! Thats how I found out! Also its a genetic thing! FYI!

Oh ya also was gonna add, what is your next step? My RE said after 3 IUIs you should move on to the next step. My IVF doctor said that people with PCOS tend to have thicker egg walls. So even the best sperm have a really hard getting through!! We did our first IVF in July/August and we are expecting twins! Just another thing to add! Hang in there!!!

caseybella PCOS is polycystic ovary syndrome. I was diagnosed when I was 15 when after a year and a half of having regular periods mine just stopped for more than 6 months. The diagnosis was confirmed with an ultra sound and blood work.

Believe it or not my Dr. said I had it because I had all the systems but for some reason I did not have any cysts yet. ALL the other symptoms. I guess he didn't know what to say so maybe thats why he said I had it, I don't know. I liked the comment from NRMommy "Its not A B or C so it must be PCOS"

I have not been diagnosed as PCOS but a few times when I saw my gyno he said that my ovaries were poly cystic. So it leads me to believe that I have it...but do I tell this to my gyno? I don't see a RE because I can't afford it, my insurance covers nothing IF.
Is there treatment for this? Or is it more of a life style thing? We can't afford IVF. I know I ovulate, or at least in the last two cycles I have had good quality folicles. Maybe I have the hard shell eggs. Is there anything I can do?
