How bad am I ?????

So i ordered some clomid on-line. From Indea to be exact. And i an taking it this cycle on my own. I have done it with teh doctor and it has been expensive because they do a ton of ultrasounds and i cant afford those anymore. Besides those ultra sounds have never done a thing. It doesnt matter what they say the result is the same. Either I have an egg on the good side or i dont. The ultra sound does not change that. I have heard of many wemon taking clomid and not having to get all teh ultrasounds i have. SOme get none at all. I have been on clomid before with a doctor so its not like i dont know what to expect. Just wondering if I am Crazy. My husband doesnt get the fact that most if not all of us would do anything to have a baby.

I agree with Jakeswife. I was never monitored on Clomid other than teh first cycle, but you will need to be sure that you are really taking the correct pill. Also, I would be worried about side effects. Can you talk to your doctor about continuing to perscripe without all of the monitoring?

Here in Ohio Clomid is on the $9 formulary at Walmart. Get a script from your PCP and have it filled there. I am with jakeswife, I never had monitoring with Clomid. Go for it, but be careful!

I was never closely monitored when I was JUST on Clomid....but I agree with JakesWife that ordering overseas where things are not regulated has some risks. the med levels could be much higher (or lower) or the fillers or expiration dates could render the drug non-effective at all.

I would think (Clomid is pretty cheap on it's own)( that you could just ask your docotr, or your Primary Cary Physician or someone to write you a scrip for it here stateside and then at least you would be getting legit safe stuff.

I agree with the other posts my concern would be that it is not legitimate. In MN at walmart for a 50mg five day presc. it is only $9 talk to your doc and explain that maybe this cycle you could do without the u/s.

here in Canada I paid $70 for a 5 day cycle of clomid. (10 pills, 50 mg each, 2 a day)...
I agree about weighing the good and bad with doing this. Clomid thins your uterus lining, so you arent supposed to take a whole lot of it. My nurse advised me that If I have to take it for 3 months in a row that she will want to do an ultra sound to check out the lining. Just be careful that you know exactly what you are taking. Do you have one of the packages left over from the 'good batch' your dr gave you to compare ingredients? Or can you take it to a pharmacist to make sure its legit? Good luck, and be safe.

My insurance covered Clomid and it was only $7. It sounds like your insurance doesn't cover it? Maybe ask your doctor for a prescription for Femara. It's just like Clomid (but I liked it much better!). I wouldn't think you'd need all the monitoring since so many regular OBs put people on Clomid all the time. Anyway, I suggest Femara for many reasons over Clomid, like no horrible side effects but also because it is actually a cancer drug so it is covered by insurance. When I was on it it was $25 a cycle. If I were you I'd ask my regular OB and not the RE, they may be more willing to let you go without the ultrasounds. Good Luck!

Ordering from India is a concern but you should also let your dr know you are taking it. There are long term risks associated with clomid including increased chance of ovarian cancer after 6+ cycles. You want to make sure they know.

I have been closely monitored on my Clomid cycles with IUI. On our second IUI I had a few issues, Clomid related cysts so was very grateful for such detailed monitoring and u/s. Be careful and I would let your RE know exactly what you are doing.

I am just so cautious about anything related to IF as it all seems so precise and calculated.

Be careful! I had 9 follicles one cycle with clomid. The doc told me NOT to have intercourse because I could end up with a dangerously large size multiple pregnancy. I would not have known how many follicles I had without the ultrasound.

Nikki- I'm with you on the bogus charges that I question my RE office charging. Bloodwork $150 and U/S $250 plus RE throws in a $75office visit for a basic monitoring. I did cutout the waste. However, now I'm stuck. First cycle of clomid I'm not sure what to expect - follies, size, ct. Plus we are using an IUI.$300 So-they want me in for monitoring to see when I take the ovidrel.
Do I even need the ovidril? $50.
Total for this basic: $835
Peanuts when you compare to full ivf, but ENOUGH already!!!

Have you considered changing doctors? Maybe you can see one who isn't so ultrasound happy!

Hi.....
Just be real careful. I had a lot of monitoring.... 3 ultrasounds & blood work......
If you don't feel right at anytime, fess up to your Dr. you don't want to make the situation worse......
Sunshine had a great suggestion - you can also check on line for the chem make up of the drug.

I think I agree with Jakeswife and the other women. My first thought was "is it really Clomid?" I was also not monitored on Clomid. I think what most people worry about is too many eggs with the meds. Are you taking the same dose that the doctor gave you? Is there any way they can give you a script and not do the ultra sounds?

What ever you decide, I wish you the best of luck. Just please be careful with what you take.
