Did you see the recent magazine cover where she says 'how to decide between her career or her new son?" What was that about? Seems like with as long as they waited for that baby, how could she even consider career over time with her child? (Though a lot of times cover stories are misleading and I didn't read the whole article)
I'm glad that she is kind of vocal about her struggles, although if she wasn't filming a reality show I doubt it would have come out. And we don't all have the money to pay for a surrogate, so although I relate to her IF struggles, she has a shit load more options then most of us. Perhaps if she used her public persona to bring more attention to IF and rally for mandatory insurance coverage I would like her more. But as of now, she and her enormous forehead irk me. Sorry!!!!
But that's what I like so much. With each treatment (IUI, IVF with msicarriage, failed IVF, then IVF only to be diagnosed with breast cancer) she was honest with Bill and said "I don't think I can do this again." But of course then tried again. It gives me inspiration because this IF stuff is hard, and we often second guess continuing the struggle.
As for career vs. baby, I appreciate her for that too. She hints that she doesn't think she wants to do both - but her DH pushes and says "well, that's not going to work" or something like that. I feel like I have that struggle with my DH too. He's used to a certain lifestyle and wants me to continue working (even if it's a high stress high nubmer of hours career) even after having a baby.
I dunno, DH thinks she looks like an alien, and it's true that she chooses career over family quite a bit...but I do see similarities in the struggles and such. PLUS she made me feel like a woman again. Having IF made me feel less like a woman for some reason and then I saw her in her ER gown and realized that she's all woman. IF did not change her girliness. Just changes her path in life.
I still love them though and have appreciated them being so candid. I watched the show the first and parts of the second season.
I would really like to hang out with her as a friend. She is the type of person I would pick as my friend "celebrity" aside.
Here is a hug for you all. Every child that God wants to be here is here already or will be. . . I hold onto that!!!
Oh, and I saw her in person once, years ago making out with Jerry O'Connell in a subway station. I could practically fix my makeup in the reflection off of her forehead. Yeah, its THAT big
I think we should be mad at the designers and industry more than her. She's so fricken tall! Could you imagine having a job (think Rockettes, ballerina, etc.) where you worked your ass off for decades to get there, got no money for years, then you finally make it and then you'd pretty much lose it if you gained 5 pounds?
Now I want to check out the magazine article. Here's a link to the cover, looks like it came out in December...hmmmm...wonder if it's still on the market.

Damn sensational magazines, I think what they were saying is that it's hard to travel with a baby. A couple of my friends just got into a fight over this issue. They travel for a living (think Hillary Clinton, but less prestigious) and they were all "we could travel and take our baby with us" and another friend was all "that's not fair to the baby or you, and it would be really really hard."
But that's what they do for a living and if they (2 different female friends) were to have a baby, they need the money AND they would lose a lot of money if they switched careers. And they refuse to give up their careers. I already took a back seat on my career for my health and trying to get pregnant, so it's not the choice I made. But, I can appreciate the women who are living the women's lib movement, I love supporting other women in their choices even if they are not choices I would make for myself...we as women can be so hard on one another. I catch myself all the time second guessing my sister's parenting choices. But why? How does it help her and her boys? Hmmmm....
It was kind of funny that when she was hugging her surrogate goodbye at the hospital (after the surrogate just gave birth), Bill mentioned the embies on ice (two of them, I think) and Guiliana said she was ready - the surrogate was not, just yet, anyway. I was like, "hello, wait 'till you get the baby home and see how much work they are and how much your life will be impacted before you add another one to the mix already!". Although, she does have a baby nurse/nanny and isn't a mom like the rest of us would be. I do still like her, even if all the money she had for a surrogate is not like the rest of the general population.
Laurie, she, herself, makes fun of her "large head", so it's funny that you mentioned her forehead.
