As for coping with jealousy- we cannot help that we are jealous. I've prayed that my jealousy goes away. The only thing I can say is stay off of FB, and avoid pregnant ladies. For some reason I am okay with newborns but pregnant ladies are the worst!
Depression- that is the hardest. I recently got so depressed because my first IVF got canceled after taking the 3k worth of meds because I can only produce four follicles. I cried for days. My doctor recommended counseling. My depression is bad when I am bored and by myself. Thankfully, I have a career that keeps my mind pretty occupied.
Good luck with everything and if you ever need a shoulder to cry on, PM me. :) I just said a prayer for you.
The sadness can come and go in cycles. The best thing you can do is come here for support. I tried counseling once but I did not get a therapist who even tried to understand. She ended up making me feel worse.
Hang in there. We have been trying for 3 years and, after 2 mc's and then finally discovering what was causing them, dh's sperm disappeared after a urologist put him on testosterone, so now he is going through treatment to get it back. I am very tired and sad at this point but I just keep trying, cross my fingers, and hope for the best. Driving is the worst for me too.
It's hard but it will happen for us all someday.
Counseling is certainly an option as is this support group. If you take a break from trying that in itself is going to be a huge burden lifted off your shoulders, even if its for a few months. You and your DH can just enjoy being together and focusing on each other. Then after 3-5 months give it a go again.
My cousin had been trying to conceive for eight years-she tried everything Clomid, IVF, Herbal Fertility Supplements..etc. Finally she and her DH stopped trying to help her emotional health. After four months of quitting TTC-she got pregnant!! (All on her own w/ no medication, procedures..etc)
Obviously, everyone is different and this story is beyond amazing, but you never know what could happen. Try to remain positive. Know that we're here for you.
Depression-take walks, exercise, write in a journal, go on dates with the DH, maybe seek psychological therapy, keep in touch on this website
Jealousy-when you feel that you're starting to get jealous realize that these women didn't get pregnant to spite you. If they are glowing with excitement because they're pregnant-don't be jealous, just be happy to know that you be feeling just as much elation in the future. Maybe they too had a long pregnancy journey and it wouldn't hurt to talk with them about their TTC story. Turn the negative feelings into positive.
I hope this helps...
When dealing with jealousy, I do think it's important to acknowledge your feelings as valid, and not just try to push them away or tell yourself that they're wrong to feel. I let myself feel it for a few minutes, then move on...maybe try to think of something in my life I'm grateful for.
And you don't need to explain yourself for feeling pain when you haven't been TTC as long as some others. I felt awful after one year, and I still feel awful after 2 1/2 years. I've dealt with more frustrations in that time, but the pain has always been the same. I know it's hard to stay positive, but you'll see success stories on here, and I have to believe that someday everyone will get their own!
I read somewhere on here about a girl that bought a bracelet to signify the journey...recently purchased a cross for my Pandora bracelet to remind myself that it is a journey and there is hope for the future.
I'm still super jealous...the rational side of me says that women don't get pregnant just to spite me, but it just makes you feel like "why not me?" I have 2 beautiful nieces closeby (others live farther away) and really want to try to be less-jealous when I visit with my sis-in-law.
I say a prayer every week in church for ALL women trying to conceive...I'll make sure to include you this week!
A recent talk with my pregnant best friend actually somewhat helped. She has done nothing but complain since becomming pregnant and always seems so negative! I was finding it VERY difficult to be around her and listen to her be so unhappy about something I want so badly. She and her hubby are happily married, employed, and had planned the pregnancy. Just when I felt like I couldn't take it anymore, we were talking one day and she opened up about how she felt. The pregnancy has really affected her and her husband's intimate relationship, he was "weirded out" by her and that made her feel very unattractive (they hadn't been intimate in months). She's feeling insecure physically and sad about no longer being the person she was used to being. She missed looking and feeling "normal" and envied me. I had no idea all of the issues that had come with her pregnancy, and I thought, "wow, I'm really not jealous of her anymore!" While I still do wish I were pregnant, it made me realize that everyone seems to think the grass is greener on the other side! Even my very fertile friends!
