So I guess I should start with the basics. My husband and I are 28, we’re high school sweethearts and have been TTC for 1.5 years. I’ve known since I was a teenager that I wanted to be a mom. It’s all I’ve ever wanted but I had to wait because my husband wasn’t ready. It never occurred to us that once we were ready, conceiving would be an issue.

We tried without success for about 6 months before being referred to a fertility clinic. We found out that my husband has a low sperm count and the options with the most likelihood to succeed would be IUI or IVF. We did our first cycle of IUI and we got the call that the blood test was negative. I was devastated. I grieved as if I had miscarried. I honestly felt like I had lost a child, which felt ridiculous because how could I miss something that I’d never had? We’re on our 2nd round of IUI now and I’m just feeling discouraged. It seems like everyone is my life is pregnant and it doesn’t seem fair.

A friend is pregnant and does nothing but complain about her symptoms. I wish I could tell her that I would give anything to be in her shoes. My husband is incredibly supportive but it’s different for him. I’m the one who’s terrified to go to the bathroom and see that my period has started. I’m the one whose hormones are completely out of whack from the medications. I’m the one whose been waiting my entire life. I guess I’m just having a bit of a pall pity party and hoping someone else feels the same way?

I think we all know exactly how you feel. Many of us have struggled for many years to get pregnant. I just turned 40 last month and what a hard day that was!! My husband keeps telling me, you look 25 don't worry about it, you'll get pregnant. I do "look like" I'm in my 20's but that's not the point! My body and eggs are 40! He tries to be as supportive as possible but like you, he isn't on these meds which makes our hormones go crazy!!! I'm on a diet, exercise, on pregnitude, 2 types of vitamins, trying acupuncture, scheduling our sex, and cry each month when AF comes. Him.....he just stopped drinking sodas. LOL I wish for one month he and I could trade bodies so he could really see what I go through.

I know exactly how you feel. We've been trying for the same amount of time, 2 failed IUIs and just had the third completed last weekend. Was also informed last week that my AMH (level of eggs produced) is that of a 40-45 year old. I'm 29. Since this surfaced, the doctors are sending us straight to IVF, we begin prep this weekend.

I know the feeling of longing to be a mom for so long and being crushed each month. My husband is an absolute angel in all of this but I know he'll never fully understand the process the woman goes through. And in fairness, I don't want him to, because it sucks ass.

You are definitely not alone. We go through such a roller coaster throughout the month starting with sadness that a new cycle started, hope for the possibility, excitement that maybe, just maybe, and then to be let down all over again. Hang in there! You've got a community!

I definitely understand. I did so much research in the beginning and one of the first things I remember hearing over and over again was not to get too excited. It is hard not to be and trying to be hopeful at the same time. My partner and I decided to not let anyone know that we were undergoing treatment so that I wouldn't have to "update" those around me if it wasn't successful. I am 26 and my partner is 32, I begin seeing a fertility clinic since October of 2017 . My thyroid levels were too high, my lining has been too thin, and everything else in between. I had lost a total of 98 lbs two years ago ( diet & Exercise) and have kept off in preparation to this moment.My first attempted IUI failed. I just completed my second one this past Sunday. I am trying to not be overly excited but its hard not to . I have a nursery room already filled with items that I look at everyday. Cry it out and stand back up. Our partners can only empathize but never truly sympathize unless they themselves have undergone fertility treatments. The moment your dreams finally come true they will be that much sweeter. Praying for you.
