just had my first IUI yesterday. I'm 36 (will be 37 in a couple of weeks) and my husband is 45. He also has had a vasectomy reversal last June that was by all means extremely successful by this surgeon who also works in the same clinic as my fertility doctor. We did a hysteroscopy last cycle and they said that everything looked good, no blockages or cysts from what they could tell. They also found 4 follicles on the left and 6 follicles on the right. My husband had a semen analysis that same day that came back roughly 50% lower than where they'd like it to be but still felt like we should go ahead with the IUI. He recently went on Wellbutrin and had been extremely sexually active because of it, which is why we assumed his numbers were on the low side. He checked with his PCP who didn't seem to think that was the problem. He was given daily ibuprofen to keep things open & a male fertility supplement. The day of his sample was double what they needed in terms of size and had something like 46.7M motile sperms but after washing he only had 2.1M and the typically like to see 5M. I had a total of 5 follicles from my left ovary as my right was silent - 2 at 12mm, 1 at 13.5mm, 1 at 14.5mm, and 1 at 24mm. They thought the follicle that was 24 wasn't a cyst because it didn't have any other characteristics. The day that I went in for my ultrasound they told me to take the ovidrel at 3pm that day but that they also thought I was in the early stages of ovulation. I've had so many up and down feelings the last couple of weeks that I don't know what to think! On the day of the IUI, the best advice they could give us was that people with more sperm didn't get pregnant but people with less sperm ended up pregnant and that it's a crapshoot on what will happen. The IUI went well but the morning after I noticed a gradual pain on my left side so now I'm worried about overstimulation. I guess m looking for some advice/support from tjosemfmyou that have been through this a couple of times and what your experiences were. We've been TTC for about 1 1/2 prior to seeking help from a specialist. Has anyone experienced something similar and did it result in a pregnancy? (Sorry if I gave TMI).
