I wish you well with everything. I have used clomid the past four months and I took it orally as pills. There are some side effects such as moodiness, weight gain, headaches, hotflashes, etc to be aware of. (I don't want to scare you with that) The first month on clomid I had every side effect under the sun. The past three months I have been battling weight gain...but I am also on other hormones.

Clomid is a powerful, but common drug used to induce ovulation. I don't know about insemination, we have only been doing timed sex with it. Insemination is probably our next step. I wish you tons of good luck!

I took clomid for the months December 2006 and January 2007. It made me very moody and my breasts hurt a lot sometimes. My OB doctor prescribed clomid for those 2 months, but now the Fertilty Doctor I am see now wants me to take tamoxifen because it won't effect my mucus as bad as clomid did when I ovulating. The tamoxifen will allow the sperm to swim more freely because the mucus isn't as thick as with clomid.

Hi .. I have taken 6-7 rounds of Chlomid over the past several years and I have fortunately not had too many side effects. The most I could complain about were the somewhat brief but definitely intense hot flashes. I would be at work in the dead of winter and my face would be red as a beet and then it would just pass. I'm sure weight gain was part of it too but I can't blame the meds - the stress of this whole process has me on an endless eating binge! But they are hormones and it's something foreign to your system .. you're bound to feel something. And I agree with Pug Girl - I took them orally as pills too.
As far as the insemination goes, I have had to IUI's and it's very quick and failry painless. It's basically like going for a PAP test ... it takes about 5 minutes from start to finish and then you sit and wait and pray that it worked. If this is the same procedure you doc is talking about doing, it's nothing to be afraid of. Some mild cramping and then you are free to go about your normal business. It's a snap. And IF the Chlomid doesn't work and your doc prescribes injectables meds, don't get freaked out about that either. I did, as does everyone else, I'm sure but once you get the first or second injection down, it's a piece of cake and old news. Don't be nervous, breathe and take it one day at a time. Good luck =)

I took clomid for 3 months. It made me gain a little weight, developed a lot of ovarian cysts (I have PCOS anyway) and i had some serious hot flashes. it was not nearly as bad as I expected. i think some of my weight gain is b/c of the PCOS and my turning to food more than I ought to when I was / am feeling down. The IUI is TOTALLY painless. it takes like 2 seconds, then my doc had me lie down for 20 minutes, then i went home.
good luck and don't worry!! unfortunately clomid didn't work for me, but i know several people for whom it worked.

I took Clomid for two months and Femera for one month (orally). I experienced no side effects whatsoever. I did however develop a cyst and had to get it removed (that was painful!)

I am undergoing IVF this month, the intramuscular injections do not hurt at all. I can't even feel them go in. The after effects is what hurts the most, my hips are so sore from the injections. Best of luck.

Hi!I believe that Clomid only comes as oral medication. My experience was that out of 6 cycles of Clomid I ovulated only 3 times, each time only had 1 follicle. You may have to take 1 injection of hcG later in your cycle to make ovulation occur, as I did. I think the Clomid just helps the follicles develop. I had no real side effects other than some moodiness, but I'm moody anyway, so who knows? Your experience and level of success will be unique depending on your own body and circumstances. If you have questions, by all means don't be afraid to ask your Dr....it's your life, you deserve information! I am now doing injectable Follistim...after the first time, no big deal, not painful. hi, I too think clomid is only oral. my side effects on clomid were not too bad---but it varies. insemination felt mildly uncomfortable but not too bad and nothing to worry about. (i'm a chicken so....) goodluck!

Hi - Clomid is not too bad. You will be fine. The drug is taken by mouth - pill form. I took clomid from day 2 - 6 of my cycle. I experienced side effects such as agitation, tender abdominal area during ovulation, head aches, moodiness and slight weight gain. The side effects really aren't too bad. While you're on clomid you will track your ovulation with a pee stick. As soon as you get a positive stick you will call your doctor to schedule an appt. for Inter-uterin insemination (IUI). The next day, you and your hubby will go into the office for IUI. Basically, they put your hubbys sperm into a sering with a long flexible needle. They inject that sperm directly into your uterus. It's painless and easy. It significantly increases your chances of conceiving. Good luck!!
