Sending happy thoughts your way. Baby showers are the worst during this.. 2 of my coworkers are about 7 months pregnant and about to have their shower and depending on how the week goes idk if I'll be able to stomach going without my emotions taking over... you're a good friend for attending. Hopefully 6th time is a charm otherwise good luck with IVF! I haven't been through it myself but I have friends who have been successful. Good luck.

Thanks so much for the positive thoughts :). I know exactly how you feel...it seems like my coworkers are constantly either pregnant, on maternity leave, or just coming back from it. Unless they are really close work friends, I would probably skip...the shower I went to was a family event, so I didn't really have much of a choice. And the couple hours of crying afterwards were not fun! Best of luck to you on your journey as well!

I'm 39, hubs is 48. We got pregnant on IUI #3, but lost the baby. Did 3 more cycles with no success and now moving onto IVF. Scary stuff- it's just a whole different ballgame and I'm a wee bit freaked out. I swear that acupunture, supplements and meditating helped me get pregnant. If our ages weren't a factor, I would continue with IUI, as it is so much less complex.
So all I can say is...let's tackle this together.!!!! We can do it.

KHM72878, I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what it's like to finally get that joy of pregnancy and lose it. That's certainly one of my biggest fears. I'm also trying to get over the scare factor of IVF, especially because my RE told me it will probably make me feel awful from hyperstimulation because of PCOS. But I think you are making the right decision with IVF and I'm sending all positive thoughts your way as you start! I'm sure after the first couple injections, it will start to feel like a piece of cake and provide a lot of positivity from doing something active towards getting your baby. And I'm sure you could continue your acupuncture, supplements, and mediation for added benefit! (I tried all of those things, to no avail, unfortunately...though maybe it's worth a second shot...). I'll look out for any updates from you as your IVF journey gets underway! Good luck!

Hi there.. I am also 31 and we are going into iui#5. I just wanted to let you know you aren't alone. I Just had a friend announce to me today she is pregnant with her 2nd child and well we started trying before she got pregnant with her first. You are an extremely strong lady to go to the shower and hide how hurt you must of felt..not because of her but because of what you go through in this journey. Shows you are an incredible friend to attend something that you wish to one day attend for yourself.
We are going for out ivf info session November 2.
I will hope with all that I am that your next round will work and you won't need to proceed to IVF but.. if it doesnt please know you are not alone and we are here to listen.

I too had 2 failed IUI - both on Letrozol and decided not to go further with that b/c it wasn't working, so we are tHISCLOSE to doing IVF. (Something i really promised myself "I would never do"). Anyway, plain and simple - this journey sucks. Seeing friends or strangers expecting or with babies - it like pulls on your heart. I don't have anything helpful to say b/c i'm facing "THE 35th Birthday" and haven't let it hit me till now... so all i can really wish you is strength and sending you good thoughts. xoxo

I'll be doing my second round of IUI soon and then will move onto IVF soon after. IVF is scary, but I have seen so many successful stories, youtube videos, blogs. I find that prayer, meditation and having faith helps. I do have my bad days though. Prayers and hugs.

I have had two failed attempts with ivi in Spain they are donor eggs as I can't conceive with own eggs so your not alone I have lots of bad days where I think why can't I have children but I am remaining positive for our last attempt next month im 40 and hubby 48 we didn't find each other until late 30s and wish I had found him earlier perhaps wouldn't have this problem

Just curious but does your doctor monitor and measure the uterine lining before IUI? The reason I'm asking is because Clomid can thin the uterine lining for some. I know it sounds silly but there may be some doctors/RE's that do not monitor the lining. Sending good thoughts.

Hi judithbeast- yes my RE monitors lining. Clomid actually didn't thin me out, luckily. Then I switched to letrozole and I think my lining wasn't as thick as with clomid. But still sufficient. It was always at least 9.5mm at the time of triggering. Anyhow, I will know soon if it worked this time. Feeling very mixed about that.
