8 follies is good. I had 9 eggs last time - the most I ever had - and 7 fertilized, 5 were genetically normal. We put 2 in and I got a BFP! You have very good chances. Good luck!

My wife only had 5 or 6 this last time and she is about 8 weeks pregnant now. Make sure they do ICSI. We have had almost a 100% fertilization rate with ICSI. I really don't understand why a doctor wouldn't do it.

Really all you need is 1, I have a friend that only produced 1 egg and she has a 6 year old little boy from that 1 egg.

All having more eggs is gives you more that will hopefully fertilize and more to freeze (which can save on costs later on). Most clinics only put back 2 embryos anyway.

I had only 4 at my retrieval last year. I ended up pregnant, unfortuantely I had a miscarriage at 13 weeks. 8 is a great number, I wish I was able to produce that many.

Could it be necessary to do ICSI although we don't have MF?

The RE only retrieved 10 eggs last week from me. I was disappointed that I didn't have as many as IVF#1, but like others have said, it only takes one. We also have issues with MF, the RE said that ICSI wasn't needed. I have BETA on the 21st.

i have never heard of using ICSI when there is no male factor. Your RE would would let you know if you need to have it.

My 2 RE's have used ICSI where we have no male factor. I think they do it to add on to the bill for the insurance company.

You only need 1 good egg so good luck! 8 is a good number.

I have heard that doing ICSI with no male factor is sometimes done to have more chances. Specially for IVF # 1 when they are not sure what the response will be.
