I never saw myself at the place I am now...struggling to have a positive pregnancy test, crying and wanting to just be alone because I'm tired of talking to people who simply don't and can't understand, hearing useless advice from people who simply don't know what else to say. I'm 40, married to a wonderful man. I have a cat and a step daughter. We tried 6 attempts at IUIs with no success. This has strained our marriage and quite frankly my relationship with my step daughter. She is a wonderful girl,but when I see the bond that that she has with her father and mother, I feel like an outsider. I get the responsibilities and roles of a parent without the perks of being a parent.

We're about to start IVF possibly next month. We were supposed to start it in July, but there were some complications with labs. 3 months is not a long time in a lifetime, but huge when you're 40 and wanting to be pregnant. I'm scared and nervous...but most of all is that I don't feel hopeful anymore. After 2 years of trying and a diagnosis of unexplained infertility, I think I'm transforming from a happy optimist into a socially withdrawn pessimist. Our friends are all pregnant, some were intentionally trying, others were not.

I am so sorry for the pain and hardship you have had to endure. People who aren't having to struggle - do not understand and some even when they know you are in this situation aren't very sensitive to it. We are also struggling and have been for over two years. We have done IUI and had 4 fail so far. We have been told we can do two more and after that we have no choice but to go to IVF. Friends are moving on to their second babies while we have been trying since before they had their first. I Just want you to know that I'm sorry for what you are going through and I'm sure most of us can share in some of what your going through. To be in this journey.. it's ups and downs and no matter when you have to struggle know that you are strong ♡

Some days just seem so overwhelming on this journey. My husband tried to understand the beat he can, but it's challenging since he already has a child and can't understand what I'm feeling.
I'm sorry pregnancy has also been a challenge for you and your partner. It's difficult to understand why, when it is so easy for other couples to become pregnant. I wish you the best. Thank you for your support.

Three months is a long time to wait! I completely understand. I'm on my 6th month of IUIs and it feels like it's been an eternity. I can't even believe my first one was in the same year. But it looks like you're finally getting to the end of your three month wait for IVF, which is really exciting! I'm very excited for you that you're finally going to get a chance to move forward. I sympathize that getting a positive test starts to feel so unrealistic after so many negative tests, which makes it hard to be hopeful, but at least you're doing something DIFFERENT this time around. And when the same thing wasn't working in the past, maybe something DIFFERENT will! That's what I always try to tell myself, and how I try to get myself to feel good about potentially starting IVF rather than bad. It's so hard to watch people around us get pregnant and be happy (and maybe even worse when they get pregnant and don't even appreciate it), but I'm sending all of my hopes and positive thoughts to you that you are the next one to get pregnant among your friends!

I think sometimes I feel like I've lost my sense of me. Somehow I need to find that woman who was laid back, optimistic and positive like I once was...I don't know if it's the sense of a loss of control that has changed me into feeling so negative and hopeless. But, you're so right. IVF is different and it may be just what we need in order to get pregnant.

I wish I could go back to the me that wasn't obsessed with getting pregnant, constantly sad that I'm not, and unable to feel real happiness from the things I used to, too. Right now I feel like the best I can do is try not to let it affect my relationships, but I'm not positive if I really achieve that. So the only other thing I can do is try to force myself to be positive, which, also, I achieve mixed results at. I wish there was some easy solution for us, but there's not. If we can just be positive for each other, though, which I think is what I'm best at doing at this point, maybe it'll make us all a bit better off overall. Would love to hear how IVF is going for you as you get started, and I wish you all the luck in the world! :-)

I know what it's like to always get a negative result, it's hard it breaks you down and hurts like hell. I am 41 so I understand the pressure of time slipping by. I have been trying for years and gave up. Then got pregnant only to miscarry at 10 weeks. Then Dr tell me it is possible and to try again. Only this time I feel more pressure because I am not 28 and 32 but 41!!! It's so hard for those who never had a loss or could get that dam plus sign to come up to really understand. My sister in law I pregnant with her first and the day after I found out I was going to have another miscarriage she asked how I was said she was sorry for my loss but that I was still getting a niece of nefew so that good! I was glad it was text I bust out crying and wanted to punch a wall. So I totally feel you it's such a hard and painful journey but your not as alone as you think. We are all in this boat together and can be here to help each other through the ups and downs of this emotional ride. So hugs to you! I understand

I'm with you. We have been trying for 4 years. We have unexplained infertility too. The doctor says ivf is really the only thing that will maybe work. I'm so sick of people's advice who don't know how I feel because they are pregnant the first month they try. I'm sick of feeling sad all the time. I know we will both get through this, I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you with you ivf attempts

Am glad I joined this group today because nobody seems to get to know what am going through, so depressed and stressed of not getting pregnant tried several ivf attempts with failures, am even tired of people telling me to pray about it nothing happens. now so stuck do not know what is the next step.
