I'm so sorry Kathleen. My doctor also told me, "not to worry bc we can always do IVF' as if it was this simple little thing. We have male IF. I wanted to scream, it felt like a death sentence to me. the reality is IF just sucks and nothing about it is easy. I will say the more that time went by and the more i looked into IVF and met with my doctor the less scary it was. It was 1 year btw finding out our problem and doing IVF. During that year we first saw a urologist and my DH got on some vits to try to improve his count. i think that year helped me feel more ready to IVF. his count improved, but the IUIs didn't work. I am happy to say IVF did! My daughter is almost 16 months old. Its 3:31 am and she is refusing to sleep tonight. I got on here to remind myself how incredibly blessed i am to have someone to have to be up with right now. Maybe you guys could also start with a urologist if that seems worth it while you think more about IVF. Do you have insurance coverage for infertility at all? I was shocked that we did. My partner has decided to freeze some little guys and make some life changes as well to improve the count. He also is going to have another analysis in 3 months where the doctor said that they could improve or decline, which is why he decided to freeze them. I am so happy for you and your family that you have a daughter! That's great. My health insurance covers 4 tries a lifetime, but I am confused because I am not sure if that means each implant or cycle, its all new and confusing. Thank you for your advice, it really helps.

Wow that's great you have some coverage! That is Tammy the hardest part about IVF. The rest ask sounds really scary but once you get started it turns to excitement bc you ate so choose to getting pregnant! I would guess that means four embryo transfers. Meaning if you got enough eggs at the egg retrieval in one cycle you could transfer tgat cycle, freeze the others and then use the frozen ones for the next cycle. But it would be a good thing to check.

I had the same issue as you- My right tube was removed and the left one was pretty damaged. We did IVF after removing the tubes and I am not 6.5 months pregnant. It took 5 rounds of IVF and switching doctors but it worked. Don't be scared IVF isn't bad at all. The worse part is how expensive it costs if your health insurance doesn't pay for it.

I could have written this post myself a couple of years ago! I had a HSG and they said that both tubes appeared to have partial or total occlusion, I remember it all being so confusing and thinking it meant everything was ok because they weren't fully blocked, I made my GP explain it in no uncertain terms after the fertility clinic told me that I qualified for IVF....I didn't want IVF I wanted to get pregnant, why did I qualify?? Basically my doctor told me the chances of me getting pregnant naturally were basically zero. I Requested a laparoscopy to be certain and did some of my own research and eventually asked my surgeon to clip my tube if ir was significantly blocked as I had read that the fluid blocking the tube could prevent even an IVF embryo implanting.
I went into surgery hoping I would come out with one tube removed and the other one fine and then I would get pregnant naturally.
Instead I came round to the doctor telling me both my tubes were removed.. I was officially sterilised, obviously I was devastated it was a horrible time!!
But it meant IVF was my only option and after I had exhausted all my other options I felt happier about going ahead with it.
I went ahead and after one failed embryo transfer my second one worked and I am currently 28 weeks pregnant with our miracle baby!!
I strongly believe if I had not had my tubes tied I would not be about to have the baby I dreamed of, If I had spent longer fretting and trying to conceive naturally and been less proactive or ore scared of IVF I would be older and even further away from my baby!!

I have heard every line about how lucky you are that you have eggs and you know what's wrong with you, and I know nothing about this feels lucky right now, but thanks to science and medicine although we are not lucky, we are extremely fortunate in the grand scale of Infertility!!
This is a long and scary road and everyones journey here is different but IVF will feel like a drop in the ocean when you are finally getting ready to hold the baby you have thought you may never have!! And if it doesn't work you will always know you tried everything you personally could.

I don't think anyone will mind me saying that Hormone and egg quality issues and such can be much harder to work around than a physical logistical issue like ours. (my partner too had low motility but IVF allows the sperm to be injected thus overriding that issue)
