This morning was the morning I take my HPT for my third IUI. I had a dream that it was positive, but woke up to a BFN this morning. Now I'm debating on whether or not we want to pursue a fourth IUI or just wait for IVF next year. This is such a difficult decision and it's basically gambling on whether or not I will get pregnant. I know one day it will be my month, but not sure when. Just trying to keep it all together, pick up the pieces and move on.

So sorry to hear. I've had that same thing before - dreamed of being pregnant only to get the BFN when I woke up. Your description of this being a gamble on getting pregnant is SO accurate! Ha, I had never thought of that, but you are so right. I'm heading in for IUI #7 this week, so I guess my choice with respect to trying more IUIs or moving on to IVF is clear. I think #8 will be my last, and then it's IVF. It's such a tough decision and so impossible to know what the right thing to do is. I have a friend who did one IUI, didn't work, went right on to IVF, and she thinks I'm crazy for having done so many. It's such a personal choice, and of course a financial choice. I'd probably try to squeeze one more IUI in just so I wouldn't have to wonder, but at the same time, could be nice to take the holiday season off, get refreshed and rejuvinated for IVF, and do that in the new year. Keep us updated on what you decide, and again, I am so sorry this month didn't work out for you. Test day is always the worst day :(.

Just had my 3rd IUI a few days ago! My doctor told me most people who will conceive usuing IUI will in 3-4 rounds. I plan to do a 4th if this one doesn’t work since it’s much less expensive than IVF.

I am going to be doing my third IUI this month and am already worried about having to make the decision you are currently facing. I would love to hear your thoughts and help each other pros/cons it. Although I feel like sometimes this just comes down to what our guys are telling us to do.

I did my 6th IUI yesterday. My friend did like 16 and got pregnant. I also had 2 failed ivf’s with poor embryos. My new doc said ivf is not for everyone and to try a bunch of IUIs. Here we are. Waiting for HPT on dec 18. Don’t give up. It’s definitely less $ than IVF. They also put me on low dose stim. I have 3 follicles so hopefully at least 1 can get fertilized this round. We also don’t have the best sperm in my situation. So don’t give up. Keep going. You can also try acupuncture during all this which has significantly helped increase the odds for a lot of people. I’ll be starting that next cycle if I get a BFN. Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies. We decided to take this month off from doing an IUI and will regroup in January to figure out the next steps. I have endometriosis and slight diminished ovarian reserve, so will have to see which way will be best for us. Good luck everyone else!

I know women with super low AMH and they got pregnant naturally. Below 0.60 low. Don’t let AMH deter you. Women with amh of 0 have gotten pregnant. Don’t give up.
