Hi All-

This is my first time looking into a support group for anything. I consider myself a strong person, I've been able to cope well with many things life has thrown at me and my family, but for some reason not being able to conceive on my timeline has really hit me hard. Each period makes me feel crazy on top of feeling hopeless.

My husband and I have been together for 9 years this May, married for 2.5 and have been trying for about one year now. I work at a school so I tried to plan it all out, with a due date in late spring. I've been completely frustrated and confused about this journey. My husband is a great guy and he expresses that he is also frustrated and can't understand why this isn't happening for us.

I've become bitter and jealous of pregnant ladies while trying to have a brave face and not burst into tears every time I see a baby or a couple expecting. My lowest points are when the students at my school have unplanned pregnancys, it's infuriating to see a 15 year old "accidentally" get pregnant when it seems impossible to me.

My OB told me at month 6 that she doesn't seem excited about our troubles and that she's confident it's a timing issue. She seems to think a natural pregnancy is in our near future. Is it wrong that this frustrated me? What if she is completely wrong?

Anyways, it's made me feel better and sadder at the same time that there are so many of you out there that share in my struggle. It seems so unfair that good, responsible people are having this struggle. I read in a post "I never knew I could love and want something so much that I don't have" that made me burst into tears because it's so true.

I am wondering what steps you all recommend I take. I've tried the ovulation tests from Target (true Blue or something) I started to read "taking charge of your fertility" and have started to take more notice of my cervical mucus and basil temp but still no luck. Any advice? My OB said we could possibly do a sperm analysis next, but I don't know how I feel about that.

PS: smothering my puppy with love helps take the sting out of each period, so puppy therapy is one of my suggestions.

I'm new too. A lot of the same feelings. Just started my period today, so another failed cycle. So frustrating. I feel bad to be so sad when I could have bigger problems. I feel calmer already being in a place where people really DO understand.

Please go see another doctor!! I cannot recommend this enough! My OB was just like yours - not at all worried, kept telling me it was going to happen. Made me wait a full year before he would start the testing process (which, by the way, TAKES SEVERAL MONTHS b/c they have to test you at different points in your cycle and they usually do them one or two at a time). So by the time we finally figured out what was wrong, we'd been trying for nearly 1.5 yrs. So if the timing is already stressing you out (I understand, I felt the same way!), please go see someone who is as motivated to get you pregnant as you are. OBs do not specialize in exceptions to the rule. Most women do get pregnant naturally without any problem, so they feel no sense of urgency when it doesn't happen right away. Chances are good that YOU might still be able to get pregnant w/o intervention, but if you are already feeling sad and anxious, please just make an appointment with a reproductive endocrinologist and get the care you deserve. I promise you will not regret leaving your doctor.

Thank you so much for your advice. I think I am going to set up an apt with a RE, I didn't even know such a thing existed until I came on this site. It's crazy how much you never learn about this kind of stuff until you dig.

We could be cycle buddies, I just got mine as well. Each month gets harder. I promise myself at the end of my period that I won't get my hopes up this next month but no matter what, days before my visitor is expected I truly convince myself that "this is the month!"

Totally see a RE! They will lead you on the right path.. i spent so much money on thermometers and looking at stuff... not worth it. A good Dr. will help you along and whatever you do, don't do more than you are comfortable with. At the end of the day, this is your decision with your husband - everyone else will have a comment, but you need to learn to filter them out. Sending you lots of hugs! xoxo
