I'm starting my first IUI next month. My RE phoned in a script for 4 medications - infertility medications are not covered (I use Rite Aid)

Clomid ($19.99)
Estradiol (Covered)
Ovidrel ($115.68)
Progesterone (Covered)

I was surprised to see the Ovidrel was $115.68! I called some local pharmacy's ... Walmart, Target, Wegman's ... they are all even more expensive!

Did anyone else pay Out of Pocket (OOP) for Ovidrel and/or where and/or are there any other 'options" instead of this medication?

My insurance covers ultrasounds and blood work, but NOT the actual insemination and sperm washing ... so I'm trying to keep the cost as low as possible!

Freedom Lists it as $79.50 per shot.

I used them for all my meds and they have pretty good OOP prices and overnight stuff for free.

I'm not sure where you live but if you have an Avella Pharmacy try there. Nothing is covered for me and I pay 79$ for the ovidrel. It is not a cheap medication that's for sure! Best of luck! I know this all gets pretty expensive!

Thanks! It shows that for a FIRST time purchase, they charge a $30.00 handling fee, so it would be $79.50+30 = $109.50, which is not much less than the $115.68 at my local store. The only benefit is that it'll be $79.50 for a SECOND one, if needed!

I'll definitely keep this place in mind, thanks so much!

thanks kcaldwell - I do not have a Avella Pharmacy in my area, I guess there are not any in NY state. However, it does say they deliver to Ny, so I will look into that as well - thanks for the suggestion!

I had to pay that much for my Oviderel OOP as well. It was a pain in the ass! I was also on Follistim instead of clomid, and they were charging me over $80 for 5 days worth of pills in my town, but found a pharmacy in my RE's town that gave me the script for like $6. I felt VERY ripped off.

I got Ovidrel for $47/shot from a hospital pharmacy in Charlotte, NC. Not sure how much they'd charge to ship it to you, but it might be worth calling Carolinas Medical Center to check! Good luck!!!!

My health insurance doesn't cover any of my meds but my 5 days of 100mg Clomid is $28 and my Dr. prescribed Novarel for my HCG shot and that is $109...I just keep telling myself that it seems like a lot now but if it works that I'll never think about that money missing! Does anyone know the difference in all of the shots? Are they all created equally or are some more powerful, etc than the others? Best of lucky to you TVE, can't wait for an update! I'll be sure to share my experience this week/weekend!

I never paid for shipping with Freedom. It would be worth calling and asking.

Don't know if you have a cosco around there but I have heard women have luck there and you do not need to be a member, they just charge nonmembers a little bit more.
