I just have to do a little venting here.
Yesterday AF came full flow and we decided that we'd get back into the swing of things this month after a 2 month break from everything. Here is a quick history of my treatments - 4 IUIs - 1 Clomid (chem. pg) then 2 femara then 1 with Follistim. When we started all of this several months ago my RE told me that it usually takes 3-4 IUIs before success. Then during my treatment for the 4th IUI I asked my RE what is next if this doesn't work. He mentioned a Lap and also IVF very casually but didn't go into detail on either one. So I call them today and tell them my day 1 was yesterday and ask if I need to talk to the doctor about next steps. I was told no, you can just start back with what I was doing (Follistim) and to come in today for an u/s. So I went in for my u/s this afternoon and my RE says that it normally takes 3 cycles of Follistim before it works. And I said so it doesn't matter that this is my 5th IUI and he said no because it usually takes 3 with Follistim so this one may not work either and I'd have better chances on the 3rd. What??! What happened to 4 IUIs and moving to IVF or doing a Lap?? This was the first time he told me 3 tries for Follistim is expected.
I have met a lot of women on DS who go to this RE and love him and I have a good friend that goes to him too. I feel like I'm the only person that gets frustrated with him. I feel like he's always just telling me what I want to hear to make me feel better and keep spending money!
Has anyone ever heard of this logic with Follistim? I am just so frustrated but I feel my only choice is to just trust him that he's doing what's best for us. Everything looked good today so I start my shots tomorrow and go in for another u/s on Saturday.

I believe that your chances for different treatments remain the same for the three tries and then after 3 they drop off.
