OK so I'm wondering...have any of you taken Clomid and ovulated on your own (basically not needing a trigger shot?)

The only reason I ask is because I have a perscription at the pharmacy for Clomid and I'm thinking about taking it my next cycle without going to the doctor for follicle studies (like I usually do) - and just using an OPK to see if I ovulate and BD from that point.

So I was wondering can Clomid ALONE make you get to the point of ovulation? I do know that with 150 mg. my follies grow large enough...and my perscription is for 200 mg. - What are your thoughts!

I have been able to ovulate on Clomid 50mg alone -- no further interventions. After my initial cycle I was told just to take it days 3-7 and then use an OPK days 12-16. I ovulate like clockwork on day 15.

my first pregnancy was on 50 mg of clomid and timed baby dancing. We just did the OPK's until they lit up and then 'did the deed' every day until the moment passed. It took two months of that but it did work. SAdly, we miscarried, but the success of clomid was still good. I was always told to take the Clomid on days 5-9 of my cycles and then pee on sticks starting day 10 until it lights up.

If you wanted to go that route, I think you might be safe to do so, but I would just call your RE and see if they okay this route for you. They know more of your personal history and that's a quick answer they should be able to give you over th ephone.

I take 100mg Clomid CD 3-7 and start doing OPKs on CD 10. I don't seem to ovulate on my own anymore without the hCG trigger, but most women on Clomid do not need the trigger shot in order to ovulate. I'd certainly give it a try if I were in your position. Best wishes, blessings, and lots of sticky baby dust!!!

I ovulated with only Clomid the third cycle I did 100mg and I got pregnant and I used the OPK good luck

Thank you girls!!! The month I became pregnant I was on 150 mg...but me and the ultrasound tech thinks I may have ovulated on my own...but we still did a trigger shot on the opposite side of where she thought I had ovulated. SOOOO...I will definitely try it next cycle and use my OPK kit...and keep my fingers crossed.

Good thing for me is that I responded well to Clomid...I got pregnant on my 2nd month of ovulating so I'm hoping I will this next cycle.

I had five IUIs with Clomid. I only needed the trigger shot for two of them - the other three I ovulated on my own.

I am on my second cycle with Clomid (50mg) and i have ovulated both cycles. Now that i am having alot of depression/anxiety from the clomid i am going off of it for a month to see if i will ovulate on my own. Is your dr doing monthly progesterone tests?
