Artificial insemination

My husband and I are trying artificial insemination for the first time next month. I was so overwhelmed at my last appointment when I was told this may be one of our only options that I did not ask many questions. I am now working on a list of questions to ask before my next cycle. Of course I have researched the hell out of it and I am still nervous and could use some advice from women who have actually went through this, not just some scientist who is completely unattached to the issue. Please help me compile my list!!

We used donor sperm for 1 cycle...we chose the donor from online, checked for chromosomal abnormalities, diseases, undesirable genetic traits, leukemia, other odds and ends stuff that you don't really think about...I think where we went wrong was to pick a donor that did not have any pregnancies reported..so how the heck do we know if his giggle juice giggles??? anywho, after that, I had it shipped to my RE when it was time and voila...no, we didn't get pregnant, but that was our process.

The other three medicated IUI cycles we did involved my husband's sperm, but washed and attached to a protein to allow for better motility, but since we have male factor infertility and his sperm quality is bad to say the least (he jokes that he's the coach of a synchronized swim team because they're all swimming in circles..sorry, tmi) that these ai s did not work either...
