I taught all last year during my treatment. I would recommend taking at least a day after the ER and even a day after transfer. I did and I never regretted it. Also, get a lot of sleep and try to stay calm. Its hard, but you'll make it through. I did not have side effects and I was on a high dose of stims. Good luck!

I am a very emotional person and can sometimes get easily stressed out (especially by my students), so I was really nervous about the side effects with the meds when I started IVF last May. I honestly cannot think of one instance where the meds affected my performance at work, thankfully. In fact, my husband is the only one who got to experience the very few "freak outs" while on all of those drugs. I was pleasantly surprised!
I would agree with gcin, take a day after the ER and a day or two after the transfer because you need to look ater youself and those little embies:) Other than that, I don't think you'll need to take off. Do the best you can to be prepared ahead of time so you can stress less and make sure to still do things you enjoy to make you happy during this crazy process!

I'm a teacher, and I thought Clomid was worse than the IVF meds as far as being moody. I think teachers naturally know how to hide our emotions in the classroom and paste on a smile until 3pm when the kids leave. You should be okay, but schedule days off for yourself like the others suggested.

I forgot to mention Lupron did make me feel pretty depressed, but when stims started that went away. I told my principal b/c of needing to be late some for blood work, but our IVF was during summer.
When do you start?

I start on Wednesday. I start with Suprefact... a nasal spray. I take that until I start to bleed. Then, I start a drug called Gonal-F. I'm from Quebec Canada though, so it may be different names from you americans!

I had two IVF treatments, one unsuccessful and one successful. I am a K-1 teacher and I had no side effects. I was on Gonal F, Leuprolide, PIO injections and Menopur.

My only struggle was that I had to be late because of the labs. Of course, it was an emotional strain. It didn't effect my teaching.

I am not a teacher, But I am a registered nurse. Remember that side effects are different for everyone, you may get none at all, a few or everyone you could read about. I suggest if you can to find a perfume or candle that you can put on an electric burner in your class room. Many say that lavendar is relaxing, look for something like that, it may healp. You never know!! When you are doing your plans fo rthe class, give yourself an easy day for a few after everything. You will be able to relax a little and the kids will be happy for something easy to do, either by themself, pairs or groups. I always loved when we got into groups to do projects. Use a movie for teaching purposes or have them make a picture/write aboput what they think a new movie or book might be about. Or after watching it have them think about what they liked and what they didn't. These are just some ideas, make a few days of fun for the kids and it shoud be easier on you too!! Good luck, you will have to let me know how you react to everything. I dont even know when we r going to try IVF, so much support is needed here as I wait for my turn, and you need it too as you are just starting. GOOD LUCK!!!!
