any other long time IVFR's?

Is there anyone else here who has been TTC for a long time. This is my 8th year ttc and to be honest it is getting harder rather than easier... It feels like I am trapped in a time warp that I can't get out of! All my friends have kids now and many of my IF friends have also gone on to have little ones making me feel more isolated with each passing year.

I started this journey when I was 30, now at 38 I am fast running out of time and I am really starting to feel it.

So is there anyone else who has been trying for a long time. I would love to hear from anyone else!

So sorry for your long struggle with IF. I myself am fast approaching my 8th year of TTC (UGH) so I can totally relate to your feelings of being "trapped in a time warp", what a perfect description! XO

I can totally relate. Even though I am just now beginning my first IVF cycle my life has been at a stand still since we started ttc almost 8 years ago. Nobody in my life seems to understand that I live the most basic life, I feel like I am simple existing each day, while they actually get to live their lives.

*raises hand* Yes! We are also going into our eighth year. We did have one success early on but since then nothing but a long line of failed attempts altogether and two miscarriages. Aside from my faith and hope, another thing that keeps me going in all those real life stories out there that are more extreme than mine that have had success after years & years of trying and many treatments before one kicks in. Iast year I read a book called 'So close' by Tertia Albertyn This amazing woman self published her own story. I think the book covers about four years of her life. She did I think it was 11 IVFs total before one took. It's a powerful and heart tugging real life account of infertility struggle.(she also has a blog) I also have kind of been following the story Carolyn & Sean Savage on their blog. They have had unexplained infertility for years. They have done many IVFs and also surrogate.They just got preggo naturally and just came out of the baby closet a few weeks ago. (she is now 45 and still in shock at the miracle)
I seek out stories like this because it gives me hope that maybe one day I too can have a "lottery life moment" just like these incredibly strong people.

It is going on 5 1/2 years for me...can't imagine 8! But I absolutely share your feelings of this journey getting harder rather than easier and feeling more isolation with the fertile and infertile world.

To me, this has been like 5 1/2 years of a "groundhog day" night mare...living the same day over and over again while watching everyone you know move on and live their life. And I'm not a fan of how this journey has changed me as a person.

I feel that if money wasn't a factor in all of this then I would at least get to really try (we have to do IVF because of DH's low everything) and that would keep me preoccupied. The waiting because we have to save is maddening.
