Here is a link to the wellness blog on antiphospholipid syndrome: I have it, and experienced 3 miscarriages because of it.
It is a blood clotting disorder, and does often result in poor blood supply to the placenta and fetus. It is treatable with blood thinners (I had a full term pregnancy/healthy baby boy after I was diagnosed and put on Lovenox).
It is rare, but certainly worth being tested for if you\'ve experienced multiple miscarriages. I hope this helps.
I'm just reading this post and it's about 5 days old, so I'm not sure you'll get this message or not...
I went in to see a new RE on June 2nd. I have had 2 failed IVF's so she was quick to look at further, extensive testing.
On June 4th, I went in for a Thrombophilia test. Basically, I had to give 20 viles of blood and 18+ different tests will be done on me- including the antiphospholids tests.
I'm nervous about the test results, but SO thankful that this test is being done BEFORE we move on to use up our frozen embryos. I'm just thankful that my new RE thought to run these tests. She said that it is very likely I'll be put on blood thinners.
Please, please ask your RE to pursue this testing for you. I'll say a prayer that your insurance company will cover it. I think that most WILL cover it, but be sure to ask about that when you see your RE. They gave me a piece of paper with a list of "CPT Codes." I called my insurance company and read all the codes to them and they were able to verify which parts are covered by insurance and which parts aren't...
Out of a $4000 series of tests, we will only have to pay $810 of that.
Praying that all goes well for you. :)
