Another let down...

Hello all,


I'm new to the group and this is my first post. I'm 31 years old and have been going through infertility treatment since September 2017 with no luck. My husband and I have been trying for about a year prior, and then we decided to go through infertility treatment. Early December I had my first IUI procedure, and today I went in to go in for blood pregnancy test (becuase my cycle didn't start after my IUI). I woke up this morning feeling so hopeful that I did not have a cycle 16 days past the procedure that I thought for a moment I could be finally be pregnant.


Then about two hours after I got home from my blood test, I ended up starting my cycle. This was even before I got my negative results back from the doctors. I felt heartbroken. I didn't even know how to tell my husband who was so excited about today.  I have health issues with PCOS and irregular cycles. Now I will be starting a higher dose of Famera and have an ultra sound on Jan 3rd and begin the process for round 2 of IUI.


I am reaching out to a support group, because I find myself keeping alot of my feelings in about my infertility issues and seeing what not talking about it doing to me. So, looking for a safe space to share my stories, give my encouragement  to others and share my personal journey to hopefully motherhood.

Just know that I am with you. My 4th IUI failed this month. I was hopeful as my menstrual cycle was a couple days later than it has been, so I stalled on taking the pregnancy test. Sure enough when I broke down and bought one I started my period. I too am taking Femera, and my next ultrasound is January 3rd. Although this message might not give you the hope and comfort you are looking for, I just wanted you to know you are not alone in this journey. Good luck on your next cycle. I hope and pray for you and all others going through this, as I know it's not easy.

I totally can relate. I been TTC June 2016 and we are approaching 2018. I am so discouraged as well. People have been pregnant and had thier baby in the amount of time I have been trying. I saw an RE in the Spring and did 1 round of clomid and 1 IUI, my hubby has low sperm count. I haven't been back to the RE since Sept. I have to get a cyst removed in Jan so I will probably go back and try and other IUI after recovery. This is soooo draining, I wonder why GOD chose us to be infertile. Its like you wait until your married, and stable to have a baby then this happens to us. I am praying for everyone in this chat for their BFP!

I have PCOS as well, and I remember the let down of my first IUI failing being a pretty big blow. I had such high hopes that IUI was definitely the solution and would work after month after month of failure, and to have it fail when everything was timed right and I knew I ovulated and the sperm were there just made me feel hopeless.

My best advice is just to stick with it. IUI basically simulates would it would be like to try to conceive naturally, so it just can't happen for most people on the first try. Honestly, the first three that didn't work were a huge let down (since I was told there was about a 30% chance of it working, I was sure it had to work in 3!). My doctor recommended doing 6 IUIs, and the last one worked for me, though I miscarried. After that, I wanted to try a 7th IUI, and it worked as well...just hoping with all my heart that it's a viable pregnancy this time.

Hi - same boat here. (Guess that’s why we are all on here!). I just Got my period after my second IUI cycle. We’ve been trying a little over a year and a half. Last New Years, i was with my husband and his friends and all their pregnant wives. It was sad but i was Hopeful - it was a new year! I just Celebrated New Years with the same group, except this time it was with all the babies. It is very hard to think in an entire year, I’m still trying to get pregnant and start OUR family. I couldn’t even make it an hour at the party without crying. And then of course i picked A fight with my husband. I spent today doing yoga, getting a massage, eating chocolate. Anything to make me feel better. And when it didn’t, i just Came home and have been laying in bed. I cant Even talk to my husband. And i feel Bad. He just doesn’t understand and i just Start crying anyways. Def looking for support here as i head Into Round 3 if IUI with little hope. But i keep hearing “mind over matter” and want to be positive.
