After my 1st miscarriage and during my second fresh IVF I decided to start acupuncture and loved it!! I actually went to someone in Westborough who knows a lot about fertility, pm me if you want his info. Anyways, while the 2nd fresh ended in miscarriage it was a really great round for me that resulted in 5 blasts, 4 of them frozen. I continued to see him through my FET last September. I have stopped, but only because of cost. I would still go if I could!

It's hard to say whether acupuncture is the reason I am pregnant or not, but I LOVED what it did for my peace of mind and for some chronic neck and back pain I have. I was never so relaxed during a cycle than my FET and I think acupuncture was the reason. They really do a lot for pain management so I think you could benefit for various reasons.

My first fresh cycle failed in Jan this year, and when we started to go right into our FET cycle, I immediately decided to try acupuncture after never doing it (mild fear of needles). I found someone who specializes in fertility and I will tell you its the best thing I could have done for this- and for everything. It takes a few sessions to get used to, but what it forced me to do was take an hour out of my day and just relax. I listen to a relaxation and meditation recording for the time and its helped me becoming more mindful and aware of my body. Its sounds silly, but the de-stressing factor played a huge part. I just did my first beta test after my 2 ww and it was positive! I have to go in again tomorrow and a few days after to see if it keeps going up, but so far things are looking good.
I went 2x a week throughout the month leading up to the transfer, and if the pregnancy sticks, will do it through my first trimester. I was also able to get my insurance to cover half of it, so look into that if you can. I am with Andi- I can't tell you it was the reason it (hopefully) worked, but I can say it helped just in general. I am with you, why not? What's the worst it could do? The Chinese medicine is amazing and the kind of acupuncture points that they focus on can help with your lining and egg quality I am told. Good luck!

I have no experience, so I don't have much to offer. I know many people swear by it, and others say it's a waste of time. I say it doesn't hurt to go and try it. I've heard it can do wonders for pain and relaxation. If you find you enjoy it, then it may or may not have other benefits, but if it helps you stay nice and relaxed, that may be worth it in itself! I've heard for it to be effective you should go at least once or twice a week, and not sure how far ahead of time they would want you starting. Let us know what you decide!

I did accupuncture once a week for 3 weeks before retrieval. Then on transfer day I had it done before and and after transfer. Then I went 2 days after transfer to help with implantation. I don't know that it helped or it didn't help but I had never done it with any of my unsuccessful IUIs and the IVF worked so I like to think it helped somehow. I paid $75 per session. While I was doing it, it did not relax me except for one time.other than that I felt creepy about the whole thing. But again, it may have helped with my BFP. Worth a try!

I have not begin my IVF cycle yet, but I've been going to acupuncture for about 6 months. I began going 2x a week but cut down to 1x because of costs, and time. I love it! I have better blood flow, better periods, less cramps/bloating, less stress, and I just generally feel better after going. Since I'm unexplained, I was hoping it would "fix" whatever may be wrong in my body. Still no pregnancy, but I'm sure it will help with my IVF cycle when I get going on that. And even if it does not help get me pregnant, at least it helps me stay calm and relaxed during this crappy time.

I'm sure you can find one specifically for IVF, and if you go, I hope you love it!

I'm probably opposite of everyone else....after spending thousands of dollars on acupuncture last year (for IVF, FET, 2 cancelled FET's) with no positive result, I could not bring myself to keep going with it for this IVF. I did enjoy it and it relaxed me, but financially I couldn't keep going. I know a lot of ladies who did/do it and have had success.
