I recently turned 40 (in Nov) and as far as the doctors tell me, I'm heathly. Myhusband, who is 37, is healthy as well. We have been ttc for over a year now. We tried later in life as we wanted to get our careers and finance in order. STUPID US! Now here we are. IVF is not an option as our insurance will not pay for a single penny, but even if they did, we still couldn't afford it.

So I have been trying acupunture for the past 2 months, last resort to everything else holistic we have tried. I already take 8 pills a day which is vitamins and such. Changed my diet, which wasn't a big change anyway since I eat healthy and drink zero sodas. I run / excerise 4-5 days a week, switched jobs so that I have less stress, and of course pray. I'm in perfect health weighting 125 lbs. I am very regular in my periods, 28 days on the day! I can tell when I will start months from now! According to OPKs, I ovulate. So, here I am with acupunture.. I have tried it for 2 months and 2 months in a row, I have been late with my period 3-4 days. The ONLY thing that has changed is me trying acupunture. Has anyone experianced this? It hurts my feelings because of course it makes me think I'm pregnant. And then I'm not which is crushing. I started my period today and I'm so over all this sh*t! I hide my crying from my husband and when I act so sad, I just blame my period. I truly don't know what else to do, I'm so sad today.

Hey there! I've done acupuncture for a year now! For the most part, it has helped regulate my cycles so that they are only 28 days. The times when I have had long cycles were typically when I was taking a break from acupuncture. I thought for sure I was pregnant during those times as well.. it's such a roller coaster.

Have you done an evaluation with an RE? They may be able to let you know if there are any other underlying issues. Hang in there! It is hard, but you can do it!

I tried acupuncture to regulation my cycles, and unfortunately it did not. Granted, you were regulation before you started, and now you are becoming less regular. I was irregular when I started, and I became more irregular. I don't know if it was a product of the acupuncture or my body settling into more dysfunction as I got the birth control out of my system for longer, but I really felt like it was somewhat due to the acupuncture. When I started, I was hoping to get a 35-40 day cycle down to something more regular. After 4 months of acupuncture, I stopped in the middle of a 70 day cycle that had to be ended medically at 100 days. In the 4 months I did acupuncture, I think I ovulated 1-2 times maximum, which was a digression.

So I don't know the answer, but I completely understand your frustration! I think it's abnormal for acupuncture to have a negative overall affect, but perhaps every person's body is different and some people do. I at least found the experience relaxing, while I was getting the treatments done...
