I had an abdominal myomectomy for uterine fibroids in April of this year. I just had my second cycle post surgery and and trying to get pregnant. My doctor didn't have any statistics on pregrancy post myomectomies but she didn't feel that it would affect my chances. My challenges now are getting my hormones in balance and the fact that I am 41. The myomectomy allowed her to get a good look at my uterus and also check for tubal patency. If you do decide to have one, my advice to you is to allow yourself ample time to heal and don't feel guilty about taking the time off to take care of yourself.

Thanks for your reply. i have done 3 IVF cycles but no success. that is why my doctor said that removing fibroid will increase the chance of embryo implementation.
how long did u stay in the hosiptal? was is it a difficult surgery? Did u take any pain medication? how long did it take u to heal?
my doctor told me it will take 4 weeks to heal and i cant get pregnant during the 3 months after the surgery?

I have a friend who fought IF for 10 years. She also had several fibroids removed, and was finally able to get pregnant after surgery. Her daughter is 8 now! I don't know all the details of her situation back then, just that a woman CAN get PG after having fibroid removed. Good luck!! And don't give up hope. :)
