Okay, so dh and I after 7 years of trying finally decided to pursue IVF January of next year. Major step for myself since I have been avoiding doing it just from being scarred. Well anyway both of us finish our degrees in December, and both of us are moving onto our next degree the beginning to middle of next year.
Around 3 years ago I was told that I would be up for a promotion in 2015 for my dream job. Yesterday I spoke with the gentleman retiring and he said that they want to bring me to that company Aug of next year that way I can mentor him for 9 mos prior to his retirement. The initial training for this is 2 weeks out of state. Well after talking with dh last night, it dawned on us that if I do IVF in January of 2014, I will be around 6-7 mos pregnant when I accept this position. Ugh!
My first dilemma, should we go ahead and do IVF this year while I am still at my current job that way I can take my maternity leave prior to leaving the company?
Second, will I be able to balance out a new career, baby, and school?
Third, postpone IVF for a couple years.... (I am 31 and dh is 38).
Is it possible to do all of this and not go insane? Or am I taking way too much on? I am soooo torn.

My gut would be not to put IVF off until later, and maybe do it sooner. If you go forward with IVF say this summer when your school schedule is lighter, then come Dec when you are wrapping school up you will be only pregnant. Then the baby should come hopefully in that break between finishing school and starting your next degree. That gives you a bit of time to get the whole mom thing down before school starts back up and you will be a pro before taking the new job.
But if you wait until Jan to do IVF and you are 6-7 mos pregnant then you train a bit, go out on maternity leave (by law they have to let you no matter how long you have been there) and you will be on leave why the other guy is still there. Then you go back and do more training after the baby before the guy retires.
So basically that the long way of saying, which ever way you decide to go, it will all work out. I just say do not put it off longer just because of a new job. Good luck!
