I go in for my first IUI today at 2:30, Vancouver time.
Its not all that cheap. $500 for one straw from a closed identity donor. $635 for one straw for an open identity. If you pick open, which we did, you get to see a picture of the donor both as a child and an adult. And there are up to 11 pages of full detail on his and his family medical history, as well as a letter that he writes to you and the baby. Its quite detailed, right down to small details of his looks and so on...
The insemination costs $200 each time... and the freezing for the year is $200. In total to buy 4 straws and storage, it cost us around $4000. If it doesnt work after that, then we have to purchace more straws. Im hoping it works really quick.
Good luck to you
Viola! Success. Now I'm 14 weeks pregnant with a baby who I have no genetic connection and I couldn't care less! I'm pregnant and elated and genetics seem totally irrelevant to me now.
Good luck to you as you continue on the TTC roller coaster!
