I absolutely hate this waiting game in between IF treatments/procedures... I had another chemical pregnancy over the Thanksgiving holiday, which was absolutely devastating, and we decided to take a break over the Christmas holiday. Now Christmas is over and we are trying to decide when to go back. As much as I hate waiting, I don't know if I am mentally prepared to go back to that mental low if it doesn't work again. These are our last 2 out of the original 8 embies that we started with, so there is definitely that added pressure and anxiety of them being our "last." We have said that we will do 1 more retrieval if we need to, but I am beginning to doubt my mental strength to go through the process again. I know so much of IVF is just a game of chance with some science thrown in there, but my heart is having a hard time with that. It just hurts so bad. Before the thought of not having a child made me sick to think about and it was enough to push me past all of the pain/anger/frustration/sadness/fear, but now I feel like all of these bad emotions are winning and getting the best of me and making me doubt why I am even doing this to myself. I am hoping the new year will bring some kind of answers and resolution, but I can't help but feel like the scars are already too deep and I will carry this with me forever.
Me and my husband have been taking it very slow so I feel if time is what you need, you take it. I know that we are fighting against all odds, time and genes etc. but at the end of the day you need to take care of yourself. IF is the worst!
If you have doubts about going in, it is completely fine to reevaluate your way forward. I don't want to presume that I know how you feel because I have not been through an IVF myself (there is a possibility of that if we find sperm via TESE) but I feel that since you have the embies this means you already have this wonderful chance for hope. Taking that chance will be scary but please know that whatever you and your partner decide, it is ok.
There has definitely been a lot of talk and discussion over what the "right" thing is to do. And it comes in waves- one day I am ready to do another FET right now, and the next day I want to wait another month. I guess fear really is dictating this whole journey, and some days it seems like the fear is winning. It is hard to figure out what is the breaking point. I want a child more than anything, but at what point am I risking my sanity? I'm hoping that these are just common questions that people who are dealing with IF have to ask themselves... being on DS definitely helps to get my thoughts out there and hear how other people are handling IF. I just gotta get over the fear again and make another move- that is the only way I will find any answers I guess...
You shouldn't let the thought of "last try" to stuck in your head. These two beautiful embryos you're going to proceed with are to bring you long awaited happiness.
