Hey, I know what you are going through. My endometriosis caused severe scarring of my right follopian tube. I had an HSG, and learned the tube was completely scarred. I under went tubal canalization, and was told my chances would improve. I also tried for 2.5 years, had four treatments and four IUI - all to no avail. I was told IVF would only have a 20% chance of success. I was an emotional wreck, and one day I decided to put all treatments on hold, and trust completely on God. I experienced a sense of peace like never before. I know and believe nothing is impossible for God; I learned I am pregnant - naturally. God made this possible. Please trust Him, pray to Him. He will answer your prayers. Don't ever give up. Never lose hope, even when you can longer see the light at the end of the road. i would have them checked, even if they are only partially blocked, you can get pregnant. while awesome, you are also at a higher risk for an ectopic pregnancy= not so awesome, and you will have no choice but to abort. personally, i would rather be safe than sorry unless you can find a way to skip straight to ivf.

After going thru my first IVF, they transferred my embryos at day 5 where it had nothing to do with my fallopian tubes and the embryos were injected in my uterus. But even if they transfer day 3, the embryos are placed in your uterus so your fallopian tubes are not involved. I don't know why your RE would want your tubes checked since they will be removing the eggs from your ovaries (also bypassing your fallopian tubes) Since your tubes aren't involved in any part of the IVF process, I'd go straight for the IVF if I were you!

If both your tubes are blocked then no amount of praying is going to unblock them - you won't get pregnant naturally so you need to know if that's the case. My advice is to have the HSG because if it shows unblocked tubes you can proceed naturally for a while (depending on how old you are - if you're 35+ I would go straight to IUI).

The HSG is a fraction of the cost of IVF, after all. If your tubes are blocked, obviously IUI is out so then you know for sure IVF is your only option.

The way to take control of any situation is to have as much information as possible, so you know the decisions you make are based on good data.

I would recommend having an HSG just to re-check your tubes. I had severe scarring on both tubes, which prevented me from achieving a "natural" pregnancy. I had both tubes removed 8/07. I was told once I had this done and tried IVF, it would increase my chances of conceiving to 65-75%(with tubes removed).

So if you want to avoid IVF as your only option, I would get that HSG done ASAP!!

I would agree with having your tubes checked again. It can mean the difference between one procedure versus another. If they aren't blocked you can try naturally and IUI. If they are you will have to move straight to IVF.

I too believe that you have to trust God but you also have to know what God has given you to work with. In my case He gave me crappy female parts and the only thing that works is IVF. But I also believe that God allowed the things to happen to my DH and I because we have never been closer than we are right now!
