On Friday I had a four day ET and I was a little worried because I have not seen much of this through my research. I was actually surprised when my RE called me to Schedule it for that day. With that said, when I was waiting for the transfer and speaking with the embryologist, she was like they are a day behind, but grade a which means I think They will thrive better in their natural habitat. In my head I was a little confused as to why they didn't wait until day 5? Also the whole time my dr was discussing transferring only one embryo, due to my age and possible good quality. They ended up transferring two, which I was happy about, but also confused. Does anyone know anything or have experienced 4 day transfers? Im in the 2ww period and if I don't stop googling or researching Ill drive myself crazy!

Move away from the computer and google! I know, easier said than done. But there is so much info out there that is opinion based or biased. Your RE is making decisions on getting the desired outcome in your individual case :)

I went on to another RE who believed in doing 3 day transfers. I did two more IVFs with 3 day transfers. Both of those were BFNs too. I didn't finally get my BFP 'till I went the DE route and that cycle was a 3 day transfer as well.

Yvonne: I am 30, (well today 31) lol, so the doctor was very strict about only transferring one throughout the whole process and then on the transfer day, changed it to 2. Thank you!

I think it is important to note that with each of my failures my RE learned something new about how my body responded to things. We eventually got there but I had many dark days. Between IVF #1 and #2 we pursued further testing in our down time and took breaks in the journey whenever I felt like I couldn't take anymore.
As far as I am told by my clinic after the first try, you must wait for your menses, and then you can get started again on your following menses...so not the first bleed after the IVF, but the next. After our first time we met with our doctor and discussed IVF protocol strategies for the next time around. He told us what he would do differently in that meeting, and made some speculations as to what he thought was going on, and how to optimize it. I also asked for his thoughts on further testing that he might recommend, and made sure to get those done. For us, we would have been scheduled to start again through the holidays, which would have made it extra stressful for us, so we waited an extra couple of months between. In the grand scheme I am not sure how beneficial that was for us, because I think I sort of went on a downward spiral of being depressed and therefore not taking the best care of my body.
For starting again though, I was concerned that due to all of the meds that my hormones levels may have also changed, since my periods were actually a little off their normal 28 day schedule, so I requested some repeat testing to make sure we were still at the same baseline. I then also met with the doc again after he decided on my protocol so that he could walk me through each step and explain why he chose that protocol, and what we should expect at each step. That is when I told him that if anything at all was not exactly as we would expect then I wanted to cancel and start over(which as you know is where I am now). I am a bit of a control freak that way, and probably drive my doc nuts, but I think its a big deal, and its all happening to me, and super expensive, so I want to be as involved in the decision process as possible. I am thinking though, that they probably will let you start again around the same time I am starting again, which is likely going to be early April for me with BCPs.
Heather, I was wondering about that, they dont really talk to you about when you can try again or what happens after a BFN, I guess they want to stay positive. As for me I am in a ridiculous funk that I cant get out of! Also, I work two jobs starting April, so I am hoping I can start before then or at least summer, as I live in a busy seasonal town and need to waitress on the side. Thanks for sharing your story and I wish that I could know that much about IVF and my body and all the medication.
