I recently had a d&c in the middle of June. Haven't had a cycle since and am getting a little annoyed. My doc said that's normal since they removed lining, that I may not have a period right away. She did say that I would still be ovulating and could get pregnant. Not sure when to test for ovulation. Anyone else have this situation?

For a year, I used the basic Clearblue ovulation tests that just shown a double line when the luteinizing hormone surge occurs. That worked well for me to pinpoint ovulation along with noticing other ovulation impending signs within my body.
It all matched up for me.
This test is not a "smart" test in that it's not digital...it's not recording your history. It's just detecting the day that the luteinizing hormone surge occurs. So you could pee on those sticks every day until you see the surge to get a gauge of where you are at.
(but if you've already ovulated...these tests won't be of much use)
A couple months ago I also started using the Clearblue Advanced Digital ovulation test. This, since it's digital and has a memory, does rely on you to take the test each day so that it can compare today's result to yesterday's result.
This is the smiley face one that Courage2010 is referencing. I usually have a 28 day cycle and I usually ovulate between days 10 and 13. So with this advanced digital test, I start peeing on a stick on day 6 of my cycle.
When you're at low fertility....it will show an empty circle. So I will usually have an empty circle for a couple days. Then as you are approaching ovulation...estrogen starts to rise and the test will detect this rise and show a flashing smiley face for every day that this estrogen rise is detected. It is possible to get pregnant on these flashing smiley face days since sperm can live in a woman's body for a while.
I usually have 2 to 5 days of "flashing smiley face".
When using this test, when the luteinizing hormone surge occurs...it will change to a standstill smiley face and stay lit like this for 2 days to indicate your two most fertile days of the cycle.
Since you're not sure where you're at in your cycle....I would recommend using the regular "double line" test (not the digital) for now. Because if you start using the digital one now and you have already had your estrogen surge...it won't pick up on this because it doesn't have a baseline to compare it to.
However, even with the non-digital (double line) test...it will only tell you when the LH surge occurs and nothing else.
It is possible that you have already ovulated....in which case neither of these tests will be of use to you at the moment.
It's hard to say since it can be unpredictable after a D&C.
I can understand the annoyance :( It's frustrating to not know where you're at in your cycle.
Have you been aware of any ovulation symptoms? This may be TMI...but I usually get engorged labia and also stretchy cervical fluid in the days before I ovulate. This usually lasts for a few days.
I had a D&C in December. And even though I got a period one month later...I don't think I ovulated that month. I wasn't aware of ovulation symptoms that month.
But then the next month it started back up.
