I have been ttc for 3 years now. It is so hard not to question every dicision I make. My husband has some crazy miracle sperm but there isn't anything technically wrong with me...which leads me thinking what am I doing wrong.
Okay so here is the question: During the beginning of my cycle I exercise 6 days a week at pretty high intensity. During my 2ww I usually don't exercise at all. I am just so nervous that it would hurt my chances....well I am still not pregnant. What I am wondering is how all of you deal with exercising during your 2ww. And yes i have asked my RE and he told me to just continue with normal activity but I just need to know what the rest of you do. Thank in advance!

when I did IVF I was told no strenous activity, I was allowed to walk and swim but with IUI's I don't think it is as strict, tell you RE what kind of exercise you do and how often and let him tell you what he thinks is safe.

I've read things over the years that linked rigorous exercise routine with some problems ttc. It had something to do with hormones. I am not talking about normal work our routines though, I am talking about hard core weight lifting and lots of cardio. That being said, I work out off and on including free weights. When we are in a cycle I try to continue my routine until ER/ET time. Our old RE said she did not want my heart rate to get too high. It is known to cause complications if it does. I could still do some things, just no heavy lifting or cardio that would put stress on my lower body or increase heart rate too much (so no running, eliptical, etc.) but I could power walk. I always decided to take the 2ww off though, just to be safe. I don't stay on the couch or in bed the whole time because I don't feel that is healthy either. Go with what your gut tells you. If you get BFP you can slowly start going back again and make changes as needed.

i worked out 6 days a week pretty strenuously up until my triggor for my iui. i did two iuis.the first time when i did not get pregnant i decided not to run since that's what i usually do. i did the elliptical and walked on an incline not letting my heartrate get past 140. i continued all of my abs and weight lifting exercises. the second time when i got pregnant, the only thing i did differently was modify the weight training....nothing that put any pressure on the pelvic floor and NO abs! i'm not sure if this helped or not but i did get pregnant soooo.....my best advice is if you want to workout during your 2ww, workout how you would if you were pregnant. not for weight management but to feel good. don't get too hot and sweaty (higher body temps can cut off blood supply to a baby). drink plenty of water and take breaks. hope this helps :)

I would definitely tell your doctor exactly how rigorous your exercise is. ALso, they say you could "continue with normal activity" but I know they also say you shouldn't start a new exercise plan. Maybe it's actually making it worse by stopping for 2 weeks and then starting over again. I'm not a doctor, but my opinion would be to reduce your workout and keep it consistent.

I have done the same thing..stop excercising when I am in the 2ww, but then I feel worse after I get my BFN. My RE said no strenuous excercise. I asked if running was ok..they said it is "ok" but walking is better. However, when I got pregnant in 2007, I didn't know it and was running and working out. I did stop running when I found out, but still miscarried at 10 weeks. I think normal activity is fine, just stay away from the hard core excercise.

i dont hard excersize any day Lol I run a mile and walk two every day during my 2ww I just walk 3 and dont run... I have found that if I completely stop all excersize and lay around I have a hard time getting back going after a bfn. I think doing a small bit of excersise even if it is just walking so ur body dosent go into the shock like uhho somethings wrong...

I think the idea is not to do major cardio that raises your heart rate and core temperature too high. i haveheard to stay away from pilates like core exercises too. Walking is great to keep you moving. I love yoga myself because it brings me peace while challenging my bdy at the same time. During my last IVF, I practiced yoga and walked 3 miles everyday until my ER, than simply walked my dog about 1 mile a day. I wish I would have started the yoga again after the 3 day bedrest period (to keep me sane and challenged).

I have gone from working out all the time to stopping when I started my meds in August. I was so paranoid that exercise would hinder my chances of geeting preggo or m/c. Now I am getting my butt back in the gym and will wokr out at a good even pace..not aggressive..just enough to be healthy!!
