2nd IVF cycle...very emotional

Hello Ladies,



My name is Michelle and to make a long story short my husband and I have been trying to conceive for about 5 years now. After 2 years we decided to see a specialist and after a million test and tries at alternatives we did our first cycle of IVF with a fresh embryo transfer that resulted in a BFNL. The cycle went well; I did experience some minor hyper stimulation with the egg retrieval but nothing severe. That was last May, and now we have started a new cycle (Frozen embryos) and we are planning on transferring 2 embryos this time. I’m trying to stay positive, and I feel a little less stressed out than last time because I know what to expect, but emotions are definitely high. Just trying to stay positive and pray that we have better results this time around. I’ve been on Estrace now for a week; tomorrow I go in for blood work. If everything goes well transfer will be the first week of April. I’ve been getting some strange headaches the last few days, my MD said it’s probably from the hormones. Alright ladies, I didn’t reach out very much for support last time so I thought this time around it would be nice to have women who are going through or have gone through what you are to lean on for understanding and support.

Sending hugs. Waiting and saying positive is nerve wracking and no one can see just how stressful it is on the inside. Be kind to yourself and take it a day at a time. Know that you are doing your best. I have at times guarded myself and I though of it only as an embryo or as a chance and at times let myself get wrapped up in the joy of a possible pregnancy. I find either way is right if it is what your mind needs to hear to stay calm. Good luck, you are in my prayers

Hi Michelle! How's your 2nd IVF cycle? I hope everything went great! I'm sorry the first cycle didn't work for you. The first time I did IVF and that damned white stick stayed stubbornly blank, my first thought was 'what did I do wrong?' The answer is of course: nothing. This is just biology and the 'embryo transfer' stage is the last stage of a medical process. The clinic will have done all they can to select the healthiest embryo to implant into your womb and then it's just down to things beyond anyone's control and there is nothing you could have done to influence an embryo implanting successfully. The day after that failed first attempt, I realised I'd have to get up and tell everyone I'd foolishly told that IVF hadn't worked. So, before my second and third attempts at IVF, I was much more selective about who I told and limited it to just very close family and friends. And even with those who knew I was doing IVF, I tried not to tell them exactly when I was doing the pregnancy test. I knew that loads of persistent, concerned texts would probably tip me over the edge.
